Home Builders Association Meeting
Wayne Goodwin, Insurance Commissioner for the State of NC, will be the special guest speaker at the meeting of the Ashe County Home Builders Association. The Insurance Commissioner will be discussing fire sprinklers, lead paint, insurance rates, and many other important issues. The meeting is open to the public, reservations are required by calling 336-620-2000. Cost is $10 for non-members and includes a delicious buffet meal by The Winner's Circle. The meeting is sponsored by LifeStore Insurance.

Fifth Annual Spruce Pine Pow Wow September 10-12, 2010. Lots of demonstrations going on all day, like dancing, drumming, singing, flint knapping, tee pees, story tellers and flute and contemporary music. The public is invited to participate in all activities. Hours: 9 to 9 Friday and Saturday and 9 to 5 Sunday. Admission: $5 adults, $2 kids. Kids FREE on Friday with the schools. Location: South of Spruce Pine at 12513 Hwy. 226 South behind Music, Jewelry and Loan. Contact: Mabel Benjamin 813-765-3073 to volunteer or donate to the Blue Ridge Intertribal Pow Wow Association.

Public Hearing
A Public Hearing will be held at 5:00 p.m. to entertain public comment on the consideration of the proposed installment/purchase financing contract to install a new roof on Mountain View Elementary School and the Ashe County High School Career Center, and to construct a multi-level expansion of four classrooms and add restrooms to the existing Ashe County High School. The public hearing will also entertain public comment on the acceptance of the transfer of property (Mountain View Elementary School) from the Board of Education to the County of Ashe for security toward installment financing during the financing term.

"Road to Recovery Tour"
6:30pm. The tour features Ohio native Leah Martensen and Virginia native Beth Champion Mason, two female singer/songwriters who travel the country using music to minister hope and healing, visiting mostly church congregations and Recovery Groups.
