I bet the guy at the hardware where you and the neighbor bought the signs told you the 50' BS just to get you to buy more signs.

See, these carpetbaggers can't even use Google on their own.

Appreciate the information and thanks for the NC wildlife link. Like the purple paint, much easier. Did the 50' signage a few years ago and what a pain. Come to think of it, it was my neighbor who had 40 acres who told me, so I went along with it.

I like to paint my trees or put up my signs so that I can stand at one and see the next one in either direction.

Thanks for looking that up fins. I have seen the purple lines on trees but I just thought some timber company did it to mark the boundaries. That just saved me from nailing up those tacky signs. Got to get me some purple paint.

Its 200 yards for sign but only 100 yards for purple paint marks

It's 200yds. But 50ft sounds more like TN requirements, if memory serves.

If memory serves me, when you post signs on the property, they must be posted every 50 feet...

Just where did you hear or see that?

Yeah, on small tracts it's stupid. But you reminded me of one.

With what I do, I'm all over the place and in and out of different developments. If I'm pulled over and you can see I'm obviously on the phone and didn't want to lose a signal, don't pull up and ask if I need help, in a tone that clearly suggests you really want to know what I'm doing there. I promise, you won't like the answer.

Posting no trespassing signs will not stop those inclined to poach or throw out trash. If someone is taking game illegally (night hunting, hunting over bait, etc) the game warden needs no complaint from the land owner to enforce the law.

Most of the no trespassing signs are not about large enough tracts of land to be hunted upon. The one's I'm speaking of are less than a acre.

For that mirror shine every time try Gords Aluminum cleaner/polish and sealer all in one.

It used to be too that if someone went across someone else's property, they had respect for the owner. They didn't tear up stuff, they didn't leave trash, and they also didn't hide a meth lab in The woods.

The game wardens cant charge a poacher unless you have your land posted. If the mouth breathers would pass the ordinance the rest of the state counties have passed requiring a person to have permission on their person to hunt or ride a atv on your property then you would not have to post your property.

Having a piece of property that everybody and their brother thinks is public game lands, I can't really agree with that one. Especially since most of these **** poachers have no respect for anything and leave trash and destruction where ever they go. Also, from talking with an attorney, my understanding is if I don't post a tract, and someone gets hurt, they could sue even though they are trespassing.

If you happen to find our little piece of paradise appealing and purchase some real estate, try to avoid posting the property. NO TRESPASSING signs are useless and only telegraph to your neighbors that you have less than a friendly attitude. The no trespassing signs are about as effective to posting "no firearms" at an establishment. The law abiding will be the only ones paying any attention to the signage, and the criminal element will simply disregard it.

Please go out of earshot to carry on a cell phone call. I really, really, don't want to hear about your aunt Clara's gall bladder.
