And 321 comes thru Deep Gap on some days.
One sign in Boone has you going north on 421 and south on 221 at the same time. Lol.

You must not get out of the mountains much, it is very common to be running East on one number and West, or North, or South on another road. You will even see that on Interstate highways. Gets very confusing in a large city.

It's not much more than a stop sign at an intersection

Ok, According to Google, Ingalls is between Spruce Pine and Newland around where 3 Mile Rd hits 19. Now I know where you are talking about

I know PlumTree and Montezuma. Not familiar with where Ingalls is.

About 1980 I drove a MGB over that way one Sunday. It was hot and the fuel pump vapor locked. I had some cold beer and poured one on it just as the local sheriff was driving by. He got out and helped me push it out of the road. It and every MG Ive ever had was a piece of junk.

Ingalls is a community. It's near the end of 194 near Plumtree. West of Newland near the tenn line.

Which isn't near Ingalls. Did you mean Lowes?

CooperFarms

Posted 8:26 pm, 01/21/2016

Yes it does, then turns left ( no tractor trailers ) and goes thru villas , banner elk over to 19e

I believe 194 goes through down town Boone, not out 105

OH. yes, 194 thru Todd over to Ingalls. I got lost one Sunday in Plumtree. Before cell phones.

Mom, look at a map. 221 runs in conjunction with 421 to Boone, then joins 105 to 321, and runs with 321 to blowing rock where it splits off to Linville. 221 doesn't end in deep gap

Yes they hire private contractors to help them.

Question: does the DOT outsource plowing and salting to local contractors up here? I was out yesterday and today and only saw "private" equipment? If so how do they deploy and monitor? Just curious since I so no NC DOT equipt. on my outings.

Cooper, I'm sure it won't but the way everyone on here wants to argue and make a big deal about everything, I figured I would chime in on the spelling errors I noticed. No biggie!!

Joseph, it's slag, not slang.
Cooper, it's brine, not brime.
Ashe Co. DOT does a much better job than Watauga DOT at clearing the roads. Look at 221 yesterday which is in parts of both counties. The Watauga end, near Deep Gap, was terrible but the Ashe Co. side which had just as much snow, was in much better condition.

Yes I know it was a typo and since Jason wants to keep his websites in the dark ages with no preview or edit button I couldn't fix it.

As to the Ashe side of 221 being in better shape that wasn't true when I came through around 2 o'clock. I have also seen many times when the Ashe side of 221 was covered and as soon as you cross the county line Watauga had their side clean down to the pavement.

Could be auto correct. lol Hope the world doesn't come to an end because of a misspelled word.
