Another Restaraunt bites the dust

I had the Winners Circle Sunday dinner. Turkey and dressing, three vegtables, bread, dessert, salad and tea.

It was about $13.95 plus tax and tip. Food was as good as you can get out of a can or freezer. I've had the same quality at K & W in Winston

Turkey was sliced off of a real breast instead of processed. Cobbler was good. Fried Okra taste kinda like oysters if you use your imagination.

I'd buy the frozen "2.5 inch" corn cobbletts and steam them till al dente then roll them across the back of the char grill till they were blackened. Dip them in clarified butter and serve two of them per serving.

Some people work hard all week and save their money because they think it should have cost $6.95 and been a buffet.

Money has no value if it is not spent.

I haven't seen anything in Winners Circle worth the prices they charge.. One trip there was enough for me..

Dont get biscuits and gravy anymore. Winners circle has excellent food. Have you bought a bag of coffee at the store lately? I bet you drank 4 cups.

Up4it, I'm just wondering, what grade are you in? After reading your posts I'm assuming you are around middle school age. Am I correct?

jr, some people eat and act like pigs whether they can afford better or know better or not. Because they are pig-like in the way they conduct themselves. Just go to one of those slop chutes and watch the way they conduct themselves. And after they fill their plates to overflowing for the 4th time, they'll eat maybe half and leave the rest to go to waste because they are overstuffed once again. They don't eat to live. They live to eat. That sort of mentality crosses all income levels and even jumps some educational boundaries too.

You don't have to be wealthy to not gorge at a trough and overeat high fat food

You my feel that way agent but folks go where they can afford to eat and where they get the most for their value. Several people lost their jobs and the High Country really can't afford to lose jobs. It's the same reason why when shopping at the grocery store most people tend to buy food that they can afford which unfortunately tends to be the least healthy foods in the store, not because they don't want to eat healthily but because they buy what they can afford.

jr, when a Golden Corral closes down, no one loses much of anything except the employees. Those are just slop chutes that overfeed the already overfed something for nothing crowd. We don't need any more of that promoted in this country.

Olde Towne Eatery from what I understand the cook quit, I do not know if they've found another cook as yet.

On the previous topic most of the service industries break even about 2 months a year, and make a profit 5 months a year. So yeah you are probably okay 7 months of the year, but to cover the other 5 months you still have to make that money in 5 months.

I think they've failed under a couple different owners now. That place wasn't very good at all, even for Ashe County standards.
