Winter will be much colder than normal, with slightly below-normal precipitation and snowfall. The coldest periods will occur in early to mid-December, from late December into early January, and in mid- and late January. The snowiest periods will occur in mid-December and early February.

Well...darn, there goes our bad winter. The black squirrel is dead so now he won't be here to predict the coming weather.

I was wondering the other day of your results. Interesting enough creston gets more snow and snows than the rest of the county. Did anyone do a count in creston

I think I have seen some of them on Sat. night at the Christmas in July Festival. That dog guy must keep them caged up during the day and only lets them out after dark. That way he doesn't have to use two bags.

Correlation is not causation but there does seem to be a general correlation between significant fogs in August and snow events. The question would be why? At first blush the position of the jet stream and the presence of a strong or weak El Nino or La Nina is going to have an affect on the amount of moisture in the local atmosphere and it takes moisture to create fog.
I've also heard that seeing a black squirrel in autumn means a cold winter.
