You think gerrys barn in creston has fiber?

Lots of business are connected and they have built the system to every store in West Jefferson and most on Blowing Rock Road. In Boone all of New Market, Lowes Hardware, Walmart are connected as is the University.

In Ashe AEV just got on line along with the court house, jail, roses, Walmart and AMH. It just takes time as they have to pay to build out their own system.

Residential gas is years away if you are not close to the main line

Coop I was under the impression that it was a bidding process and Frontier won the bid either way it doesn't change the fact that they have a monopoly which is against the NC Constitution and very few people are hooked up

I dont think skyline ever did run it to the houses, only along the roads. Sounds like what frontier is doing.

They sure did run it to some house's I have a friend who lives up Brushy fork in Creston and they ran it up the hollow to his house even though he doesn't use it.

" on the other hand paid for the right to this area"

Might want to do a little background on this. Sempra Energy was given a grant by the state to build the system and operate it for ten years - into the mountains and into Warren County ( off 1-85 near Va line ). They are a California company and Frontier was the NC division. They sold the company at the end of their ten year agreement with the state.

The state of NC pushed this to get ASU off of heavy oil for air quality reasons.

Frontier must be living off government subsidies.

Look at how skyline ran fiber up every hollow in 2 counties a couple of years ago. I

At least BREMCO will hook you up to the power grid Frontier on the other hand paid for the right to this area and wont hardly hook anyone up to the gas line. There is a neighborhood in Boone that has been fight to be connect for several years.

Bottom line, PAY BREMCO or your arse sits in the dark.. It don't get any simpler.

I suggest you do your own research, Stumpy, and you'll figure out what Joe is talking about. Especially when a co-op uses its status to over step it's bounds. Natural monopolies have some strict regulations.

PUBLIC UTILITIES, SUCH AS ELECTRIC, WATER, SEWER, ETC. ARE CONSIDERED NATURAL MONOPOLIES. TO LEARN MORE I SUGGEST YOU RESEARCH

BY THE WAY, I SEE THAT YOU HAVEN'T EARNED THAT J.D. YET OR YOU WOULD HAVE KNOWN THIS.

While we are talking about BREMCO let also talk about Frontier gas and how both of them of a monopoly which goes against the NC Constitution.

Sec. 34. Perpetuities and monopolies.

Perpetuities and monopolies are contrary to the genius of a free state and shall not be allowed.

$9 is frigging insulting to the members

I hope that by giving this 9.00 break, none of the commissioners have to skip a meal while enjoying the ASU suite...

Haven't yu heard that a "penny saved is a penny earned." 9 Dollars seems small and it is but that's a few gallons of gas. I mean, a break is a break. I'll take your 9 dollars if you want to donate it.

Where have you been when we have had threads about bremco. There are a few additions and one correction. Dougie is the 2nd highest paid among co-ops nationwide. Bremco is not the second smallest. Along with sitting on that board for life comes insurance for the whole family. Below are two old threads.

Can you actual believe Blue Ridge is helping us with giving us a $9 break on our January 2015 bill really???? Here you have a CEO who makes $800,000 per year and I image incentives along with that. Blue Ridge Electric is the second smallest co-op in the United States and he is making more money than the largest co-op in the United States. What is wrong with this picture?????? How about if he took a pay cut and give us the break on our bill based on his pay cut. Oh, let's not forget about our board members who get paid to sit on this fine board- I believe they get paid $25,000 a year and only have to go to meetings to get this check (I believe they only meet a few times a year). If I am wrong on any of this please feel free to correct me and have the resources to back it up. If you want any proof to what I have said look at the jefferson post under the article of Blue Ridge Electric and read the comment made. If you are going to give a break then give us a break that is worth our while.
