....FYI...Appalachian State was founded as a teacher's college in 1899 by brothers B.B. and D.D. Dougherty. It expanded to include other programs in 1967, and joined the University of North Carolina system in 1971. It is the sixth largest institution in the system with about 16,000 undergraduate and 2,000 graduate students. 103 undergraduate and 49 graduate majors are offered, as well as a doctoral degree in educational leadership.

Here's UP again just wanting to accept the low road being dished out without question. Easier to just go with the flow isn't it?

Since the sales tax goes into the general fund, maybe we should do a bit of rabble rousing about the commitment of more than a single year.

They act as if we're the ones who are the Mouth Breathers.

Its 500 thousand to the hospital. Now if the sales tax increase doesnt generate 500K it still comes out of our pockets. I never heard the part the money was only going to the hospital for 3 years. Never voted for it in the first place though.

That is the problem I have always had. It seems I find the budget after it has been approved. For instance, they are now saying they have planned the .5 million for the hospital for at least two years. When this came up last year I did not here anything about this being a continuing expense. I guess since the got their sales tax increase they can do whatever they want with the money. They even used that as part of the excuse to ignore the local college expansion.

I noticed a couple of weeks ago that the current years budget has been taken off the counties site. Its not a problem for them to post the proposed budget. I can with certainty bet finance has been instructed not to publish it.

Aware of how the meetings are run, just don't know how to get a copy of the proposed budget out to the public.

The meetings at 9am are not very conducive for anyone to attend. I am assuming several of them cant meet in the afternoons or evenings as this would cut into their nap times.

No its that they don't want to have anyone at the meeting to complain about the crap they do. They know most people can't afford to take off work to come to the meetings if they have it during the day.

Ah NSA don't know what meetings you've been watching but there's a public comment session at EACH AND EVERY meeting. The problem is no one shows up to talk.
