Commissioners Symbolic Resolution of Support for HB2

The problem i they didn't read the bill. HB2 did a lot more than bathrooms. It essentially removed rights in the state constitution under sections 18, 19 and 24 of the state constitution, making the bill largely unconstitutional. If you work for a small business you've essentially lost your rights with HB2, doesn't matter if your are LGBT or not, you have no recourse for discrimination since HB2 requires you now to sue in federal court but Federal law doesn't allow you to sue for discrimination based on age unless your employer has 20 or more employees or if you are disabled unless you have 15 or more employees.

People need to read the bill and realize that it's not about bathrooms, that was just used as cover to pass other laws.

You would think Jordan would be against LGB discrimination. I wonder how long his boyfriend cut him off after voting for HB2

I can and will agree that there were parts of that bill that truly had no business in that bill. The governor said so himself on face the nation Sunday morning.

I too could care less about the bill and I had rather take a piss behind a tree than to go in a public restroom. However the ones making the noise on the crap house bill need to do as I pointed out in my previous post if it upsets them so much.

I would thing #3 and #4 are only slightly from my more conservative liberal opinions, the rest are not really biased at all. There are parts of that bill that are clearly not related to restroom etiquette that shouldn't have been part of a bill created "to save the children and women-folk from predators". You would have to agree that I'm correct on that. Anyway, it may surprise you that I could care absolutely less about HB2. Let's say that I don't have a dog in the fight concerning any part of it. Let's just say that my only purpose is to make fun of how very stupid social conservatives can truly be.

I may like to warn you that by going to the supreme court you may get an outcome that is not to your liking. It could cause your taxes and goods to go up even more. I wouldn't like you very much.

Yogi while all of your reasons are from a liberal point of view and mine would be from a conservative point of view there would be only one reason these idiots did this and that is because everyone else did it pure and simple.

Also keep in mind again we are only talking about less then 1% of the population here. If you people dont like it do one of two things. Vote in persons with your point of view or hire a lawyer and go to the supreme court. Oh---you may want to wait on the second until a new liberal judge is seated.

Thank you Averagebear. I hadn't considered reasons 3-4, but that's probably most of it, along with all the other reasons you list.

BTW Bluheel, voting out the scoundrels sounds good, but we probably don't have a great pool of qualified candidates waiting in the wings.

Why?

1. Because they're social conservatives.
2. They've received calls from concerned citizens and talked about it over breakfast.
3-4. Jonathan Jordan probably asked them to do so in order to help prop up their less than well-thought out bill and to rally political support for a governor up for re-election who is sinking quicker than a bag of rocks (Every time he appears on national television, he has his buttocks handed to him.).
5. They've, no doubt, received calls from all the fundamentalist preachers to do so.
6. An ill-fated attempt to grow a pair.
7. Oh, and to keep them weirdos in their place and out of the bathroom!

Because our local leaders are lacking vision and leadership......and because they are opportunists with issues like this. I wish the voters in this county would wake up and make some changes.

I'd like to see a resolution in support of a topless bar.

Perhaps you guys can help me understand this...

Why do our local county commissioners feel they need to weigh in on HB2? Ashe County isn't a place where people are looking to change local laws in favor of the LGBT community, so why are our commissioners wasting their time passing some silly symbolic resolution. Shouldn't they be dealing with real issues in this county?
