Reminds me of a friend of mine's Uncle Ed. He passed out drunk in a bank drive thru lane at rush hour time on the last day before a holiday weekend. The cops had to break the car window and then when they arrested him for the DUI he decided to fight with them and then he kicked out the side window of the patrol car. Beautiful. The booze didn't make him do it, it allowed him to do it. That's what he always said.

I went through a Burger King drive thru down there one time after a night out drinking. Actually, the drinking started early in the day and went through the night. They kept locking the window on us because one of the passengers was making fun of the guy working the window.

This wasn't local, but it still made me laugh. Then it kind of made me mad.

An intoxicated Smyrna Beach man wanted Taco Bell, but employees wouldn't serve him because he was on a bicycle in the drive-through lane, authorities said.

They called New Smyrna Beach police when Gabriel Harris, 33, refused to leave after placing an order at the drive-through window as the restaurant was closing just after 3 a.m. on Sunday.

Reports said police found Harris sitting on the bicycle at the speaker. Police said as officers asked Harris to leave they spotted a Swiss Army knife on his belt loop. An officer reached for the knife, but Harris grabbed his wrist.

The officer wrestled Harris to the ground and arrested him.

Harris faces a charge of resisting arrest with violence.

I laugh when I think about the situation, but then when I think about it, I get a little mad.

1. Why did they refuse to serve him? There's no rule against a bicycle in the drive through, and since he wasn't charged with a DUI (apparently it's not legal to ride a bike while drunk in Florida) then he wasn't breaking any laws.

2. What made the cop think he had the right to reach for the man's Swiss Army knife? He wasn't under arrest or going for the knife himself, and I might be inclined to defend myself in that situation, too.

3. Look at the mug shot, and the guy had his head cracked pretty hard. Seriously, the cop had to take down a skinny drunk guy that hard?
