Last time I was at Shatley springs ( and I do mean it both ways - the last time)
They gave us a fly swatter for each table.

I've never understood that either. Especially for food that disgusting.

All three always amazed me how people would drive for hours and wait in line almost as long

Not a dime's worth of difference between any of the three places.

I believe they used to make the same joke about greenfields, and Daniel Boone Inn in Boone.

The joke I heard not only included the ham but the chicken, biscuits and gravy too, but then again it was a joke right? Guess that's why some of the locals wont eat there?

I heard that one too. But I didn't realize that it was a joke.

I once heard a joke about the food at Shately Springs - they had trained the uneaten ham to walk off the dirty plates and onto the plates that were going back out to customers. I watched for this the last time I was there and saw something moving on a plate, but my glasses were in the car so I couldn't be sure if the ham was moving of if it was just a bug.

I know a person who went to the Coyote Kitchen and put in applications, she said the owners made fun of most of the people in Ashe for being stupid and not knowing what a vegan diet was and how that none of the restaurants in Ashe cater to people who are on vegan diets or people with food allergies and how Coyote Kitchen will be after the smart new people of Ashe who are looking for a healthier alternative to Winners Circle, Shatley Springs, and the rest of the burger, chicken, mexican and pizza joints in town.

UNC1 - I had heard that a number of times. That people who ate at Geno's would get sick.

Isn't this a supply and demand issue? If the demand were high for Geno's to stay in business, the owners would have buyers standing in line to buy the business and keep it open.

And the gourmands have given their seal of approval to Geno's. Probably still bemoaning the loss of Woodhaven here and Golden Corral over in Boone.

Agree with Clodhopper and Joe. Always enjoyed the good food at Geno's. Ate there Sat. night and the place was very busy. Seems we were not the only ones wanting one last meal from there. Hope to go back before they close the doors.

I'm sure all the Geno haters will be happy when they can go to the new Coyote Kitchen and get their veggie meals or their $12.00 burgers.

I will have to agree with Clod on this one as my family has never had a bad experience either

Personally I never had a bad experience at Geno's, and the staff was always friendly and very attentive to their customers. But anytime you dine out you are taking a risk, if you're not up for the gamble stay home and cook for yourself...

The last time that we (8 of us in a group for a birthday) ate there was about 3 years ago and 5 of us got sick and we've not been back since.
