We sympathize with his position, but what can be expected when Ashe offers $10,000 more a year in starting social worker pay than Wilkes?

The above statement says it all about how poor wilkes pay is and why they have a high turnover. Its not hard to look at the statewide salary schedule. What a bunch of corn fed hick idiots down there too.

Let's hope they don't let Yearick or the commission board interfere with DSS operations. Cutting salaries leads to high turnover, higher training costs and programs that are shoddy as evidenced in Wilkes County:

I think Revis is a fair choice. At least he has current knowledge of how the agency has been operated. At least the adult services end of things. Time well tell whether he is left alone to do his job or if he is expected to be a puppet of Yearick. If they well let him, and not micromanage him to death, he may do well. Now let's see if the DSS Board can make a decision on the director before they have more board turn over.

One of the largest growers in the county has a job. You only have to hire it done. Much like you hire someone to paint your house.

So what do we know about Mr. Revis? Donna seems satisfied with the selection, if her quotes in the story mean anything. Story says that he is a tree farmer, I wonder where he finds the time?

Randy Revis, an adult services social worker, will take over as interim director for the Department of Social Services beginning on Dec. 1.

I don't believe the government at any level has the right to keep secret from the people anything, that's how tyranny begins.....

Think we just found out what those "secret" meetings were all about.

You are a moron Timmy. Closed meetings are still on record as taking place. It's just the events that took place aren't actually disclosed when a closed meeting is held. But most official closed meetings are closed under improper reasons.

Especially considering all their pubic meetings at Hardee's.

For starters what verifiable proof is there that these so called closed door meetings even took place?
Surely you're not going to go on just lone post, that this even happened.

There should never ever be closed door meetings, ever

More than likely the meetings themselves are illegal. Very few conditions qualify for closed meetings

Likely breaking laws.

Does anyone know what has come out of all the closed door meetings at the courthouse today? Commissioners met all day and so did DSS board. I wonder what major decisions have been made for Ashe County. I hope they have more information than last time. Was the press allowed in at either meetings? I sure hope so.
