Heard this morning that the Sheriff was retiring effective in December.

I thought I'd been brutally honest in the past about ego seekers, power trips, and cowards looking for a gun.

You know, the high sheriff job is an administrative position according to the state. The Barneys would crap, themselves if an educated administrator was given the job. It would probably be a good thing to have someone that understands managing money and people.

I don't believe there's ever been an "educated" elected sheriff in the history of mankind, outside of perhaps European literature. The sheriff's office is where enlisted military has beens and never was' go to get progressively fat and eventually die. Basically, if you can't hack it in a real municipal/city police department, you enlist in the gun-wielding politician's army. I will say, Jimmy's band of rogues had an impressive kill count for a county of this size.

Well after the mouth breather meeting I now have my doubts old Bucky will replace Williams for 2 years. Seems the three stooges have other plans.

On putting an administrator in the office.

On taking their bullets away and making them earn them? Or on putting an administrator in the office?

Fins, it's a rare occasion. But for once I actually agree with you.

I suppose I would be in charge of the barneys ball?

Given the political mentality of that bunch anything is possible. I did notice the lowes lumber candidate had a four year degree in business administration. He may be too smart for the boys.

I don't know what they would do, but a whole lot of other folk would stand, cheer, and applaud.

What do you think the Barney's would do when I walked in and said hand over the ammo boys. You get one bullet till you prove you can be responsible with more?

FINS FOR SHERIFF

Buchanan was brought in by Jeff Rose from what I heard. There are a few different scenarios that could possibly occur here. 1) Absher gets voted in by commissioners, stays in office 2 years and decides to run for sheriff in 2018, probably wins and Jeff Rose is left to pout. 2) Absher does not get voted in by commissioners and most likely retires, Buchanan goes in, Jeff Rose smiles like the Grinch because he knows he can beat out Buchanan for the sheriff position in 2 years.

There are a lot of issues at the department, however sometimes stability is the answer. I am guessing Rose has handpicked one of these guys to keep the seat warm for him in 2 years.

It should concern each and everyone of us who will actually run for sheriff in two years.

What is really bad is how they spent so little time talking about their qualifications. Mostly they just wanted to bad mouth James and Bucky. Neither one of the two new candidates have any idea what is going on in the Sheriff's Office right now. They talk about being behind the times or the drug problem without having a clue about anything. Do either one of them know what technology or electronics the Sheriff has on loan from the Feds or the State? Do either one of them have any idea about multi jurisdictional investigations that are going on right now? No. Of course not, and James Williams can't get up and brag about it. I despise politicians that just bad mouth other people. James Williams and Bucky Absher have both served this county well for a long time. Let's hear what Terry Buchanan and Mark Massey have done for us. Personally, I would not support or vote for either one of them.

What's sad is these people think they have a chance at the job. The mouth breathers already have their pick and just haven't said it yet.
