"Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason, than that of blind-folded fear." Thomas Jefferson

If you are going to question even the existence of a God, then you should question everything. I don't subscribe to all though, I do believe we went to the moon and I don't believe 9/11 was an inside job.

The people in Washington know that Medicare and Medicaid are unsustainable at current growth rates. Social Security is as well but it is more fixable than Medicare/Medicaid.

The ACA was written largely to collapse the system. The politicians knew they couldn't get rid of all these different health care programs as it would be political suicide, and politicians like their power. So the Democrats crafted the ACA, and despite not one Republican vote for it, the Republicans really haven't opposed it as much as you think, yes they had a few show votes, but really they've let Obama rewrite it as he sees fit, they've fully funded it, etc.

The politicians used insurance companies greed to entice them into it. With promises of millions of new customers who had to buy their product insurance companies eagerly at first joined in the promise of greater fortunes, now many are backing out because what the politicians promised isn't what they got. The politicians knew all along it wasn't going to work, the idea was to brankrupt as many of the insurance companies as possible thus collapsing the current system so that the people would demand government step in and do more.

Now Obama has tested waters against the sacred cows. Tricare for instance he's been trying to restrict what it covers and how much the soldier has to pay since just after the ACA was passed. He's had a lot of backlash and the media helps by keeping it out of the news.

The shifting of money from Medicare to the ACA was just seen as a first step, since eventually everyone would be part of the same system in the long term such maneuvering of money didn't mean anything. They could count of big media being largely silent and big business. After all the people that pull the professional politicians strings pull those as well.

The system failed for many reasons but yes the ACA could never succeed long term, it never was meant to.

The problem is the government doesn't have 1 health care system. You see the original plan was to dump Medicare and Medicaid into the ACA eventually, as well as Tricare and Native American Care. Of course the bureaucrats would keep their own insurance at our expense.

In time Unions and Corporations would dump their insurance plans and put the private people on it as well, don't think so think about pensions....used to almost every plant etc had a pension fund, but they don't today. It's really the same problem, when the first pension started approximately 13 people were supporting 1 pensioner. To maintain that you have to maintain that those working outnumber those not working 13:1. Sadly it's closer to 2:1 and not far from 1:1 today. The system is very close to collapse.

The backlash was to strong and they backed off dumping the other government run insurance programs, but eventually all those systems have to be made into one if it's ever to be viable, half of Americans aren't even in the ACA and with such a small percentage of the population participating it can never be successful. That's the problem the government has created a situation where they cannot do politically what must be done if they are to save the program. So they just are waiting, waiting for the inevitable collapse so that we will demand yet even more government control, Republicans, Democrats, there is no real difference in the main political aims of the establishment of both. They both want more control over Americans, they only differ in the speed they want to take control.

Our good neighbors in Tennessee will be the state to blow up obammie care. There is only one insurance provider for the entire state.

The marketplace is not sustainable unless there is a medicaid/medicare or single payer option. There has to be something that stabilizes that market. If not, yes its going to crash and probably soon.

You can be mad at the $716 million but be mad for the right reasons. These were not cuts, they were savings and instead of passing those savings to the taxpayer they used them to fund ACA. They did not cut anything. However there is no shocker here...they are using tax money to fund something it was not intended for.

ACA was doomed without the support of congress after it passed. It was flawed and because of the inability to legislate, the problems will not be fixed. So, like fins said, It speed up the process of crashing the entire healthcare system.

There is plenty of blame on both parties. Democrats passed a bill they knew needed more work and the Republicans failed to fix the problems knowing that they could not repeal. Both sides have had 7 years to make compromises and have been too politically motivated to make concessions and truly reform the system.

Can't just blame Obama though, Congress passed the bill and it allowed the shifting of funds. Congress has done nothing to fix it since....

Wilkes has nine advantage plan choices with drug coverage for 2017. Why do they have three times as many choices as Ashe?

This is a multi-layered problem that can't be layer at the feet of one party. Granted, I think most of the fault can be placed on the insurance companies, but the pharmaceutical companies get equal blame. the large companies that have bought up all the hospitals and cut doctors salaries to insane lows deserve blame too.

I'm not sure there is a solution other than collapsing the system and starting over.

Nothing good to take it's place either. Only three advantage plans with drug coverage. None look appealing. The hospital and doctors around here went to a lot of trouble getting on board with them and now the m-effers are pulling out.
