Winston Churchill was the British wartime leader whose speaking ability inspired the resolve and determination of the UK during the darkest days of WWII. He is regarded as one of the greatest British leaders of all time, yet his impact on the nation quickly waned after the war ended. His party was defeated, then brought back to power for a time, and Churchill's legacy is focused on the war years. The Apostle Paul wrote of how he was able to permanently impact so many in 1 Corinthians 2:1-2, "And I, when I came to you, brothers, did not come proclaiming to you the testimony of God with lofty speech or wisdom. For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified." Paul says to Christ followers that great speeches do not lead to lasting impact and transformation. Paul's says a deep relationship with the crucified Jesus Christ is what prepares an individual for transformational engagements. Just a Thought – 4/15/14
