Good lord how drunk was I yesterday afternoon with that post.

Scott you should start drinking. The strong like myself and some others I associate with have self control. Morons become drunks because its cheaper than illegal substances.

Time away from family can be very hard on people.

We have a lot of victimless crimes in our society today, crimes that in my opinion shouldn't be crimes. Unfortunately the most common of these is drug use, wherein you get more time for smoking marijuana or snorting coke than you do if you knock over the local gas station or in some cases shoot someone.

If all someone has done is possess drugs and presumably smoked them that shouldn't be a crime. Now if they knock over the store while high or shoot someone that's different and obviously a crime.

No I don't use drugs, never have. Don't even drink alcohol. It just stands to reason that if in the early 20th century you needed a Constitutional Amendment to ban something and then another to repeal that ban, then by what right do we ban similar substances today in light that no such Amendment has been passed regarding said substance? We just never learned the real lesson of the Prohibition period, all Prohibition does of anything is empower the criminals that are willing to produce, transport and sell banned items. That's how we got an unstable border area with Mexico that's controlled by Drug Cartels rather than the Mexican government.

"He said the key is solving behavioral issues when they are still small and minor and can be dealt with immediately by the teacher or principal."

Exactly, and the It all started down hill when the paddle was removed from school. Leaders are not leaders anymore. They are chicken squirt and bow down to any pressure.

Any Yogi is correct in when the real punishment was when the child got home. Now they go home and daddy comes to school wanted to whip someones *** for mistreating his little thug. The principle smack the piss out of both problem solved.

Very good point, FINS, concerning the disconnect. When I was teaching high school, I saw the disconnect even within our own system of punishment. There were times that suspensions were altered as to not conflict with testing, testing prep, and slots open in ISS due to overuse of ISS. Often times a student would wait a full week before getting punished. By that time, the punishment meant nothing (suspensions mean very little anyway unless the kid knows the real punishment will happen at home).

After Sandyhook I attended a lecture and Q&A hosted by the governor's school safety committee. The committee was headed by this towheaded kid (I say kid because he looked barely 25) that at first appearance I knew I was going to be listening to a bunch of touchy feely bleeding heart crap, even though he was appointed to his position by McCrory. Once he started talking, I realized I was wrong. He was super intelligent, well informed on the subject, and presented solid fact based arguments. Given the time, expected most of his speech to be about guns. But he barely even mentioned them. His focus was on the fact that if kids reach the criminal system, it's probably too late. He explained that the best discipline is immediate and appropriate. The big problem with the court system is it takes too long. By the time a kid gets to court, it's been long enough the kid has disconnected the act from the punishment. He said the key is solving behavioral issues when they are still small and minor and can be dealt with immediately by the teacher or principal.

The WS Journal has a good article about the realities of poverty:

You two clowns make me laugh. I took your advice and read more on this site, specifically postings you two have written. I have to say, as amusing as you two are, collectively you're both almost as witty as a wet fart. When you are ready for a seat at the adult table, I'll make sure the pablum is within reach just in case you start to panic as you have done here. This will be my last posting here, so I'll give you the last word. I'm sure you'll write something insulting to try and save face. Have fun kids. You're welcome.

Yep It has to be an act. No one would start an argument like this up here. Just called me Dog like they know me.

Should I call you Jim? How about Peter? I referred to your screen name. I assure you, this is no act.

Most people that ***** about handouts have no clue how these government agencies work. Your experience is great, but far from the norm. I have said forever that we need to overhaul these agencies and social programs, but for those stuck in the poverty cycle....these are needed programs.

As far as the the inmates go, yes there are some that are nothing more than a product of their poverty and **** life at home. So you made it out great, but others get stuck without any hope.

Lets get this straight Tolly. I am not employed by the government and I dont get paid to worry about the slums of Ashe county or Atlanta GA. I drink liquor and entertain nice concubines. You dang right I am high and mighty and I earned every right to be as I work my tail off to maintain my lifestyle. No one has given me a place to live or food to eat or a phone for that matter.

Thank you for helping me prove my point, Dog. Nobody is "challenged" when they get handouts. You earned what you have. You EARNED it all. That was the point of this thread. You challenged yourself and you are reaping the rewards of your hard work. There is nothing wrong with that despite what the media and liberals would have you believe.

Look at the hate pouring out of you. No, you're not right. You're arrogant and dull. You shout loudly and try to impress behind your keyboard. You want to make a real difference? Improve those slums you speak so highly of in the back of your county. You're so high and mighty and have all the answers you find on the web. Practice what you preach, coward. Make a difference. When your slums are gone and all your convicts are rehabilitated because of your efforts, I'll admit you're right. Until then, you're liberal racist with an inflated ego.

You little whinny wuss, instead of standing up and admitting we are right you fall back on your racist screaming. Wont work here clown. You dont know what a slum is until you have been in the back country of this county.
