David Copperfield, Harry Houdini and Harry Blackstone, Sr. are on any list of the greatest magicians of all time. Fascinating feats like floating over the Grand Canyon, escaping from a straitjacket underwater and sawing a woman in half were great to watch but were entertaining human endeavors. Jesus did real miracles. Raising Lazarus from the dead, He said in John 11:41b-42, "Father, I thank you that you have heard me. I knew that you always hear me, but I said this on account of the people standing around, that they may believe that you sent me." Jesus' miracles covered a broad spectrum of situations involving physical substance, nature, the spiritual world, peoples' infirmities and even death. His miracles showed compassion for those in need, but that was not the primary purpose. Jesus did miracles to demonstrate that He was sent by the Father and He was the Son of God.
