Sullivan may not be making money hand over fist, but the subsidy received from the County will keep him solvent. Trip volume does not seem that far off from the previous provider, nor from the information provided to bidders during the RFP process.

I'm betting that he is running close on money too. He's not got the buying power with two services in two counties to get a lot of savings on consumable materials. He got a sweat deal on the building even if it is in a swamp. If he and his wife. doesn't take a salary and just get the capital gains at the end of he year it might save him 15 percent on his SS contribution

He has a fleet of ambulances to keep up, equipment, fuel, a payment to bremco, utilities, and lastly salaries for 18 full time people, and the part time people. Again I dont see how his is making it.. I am sure I left out some more such as insurance.

That wont sound to bad to the average moron on the street. But obviously his overhead would be very high too.

I believe that a closer look at his books would indicate about $400 average per call billed to private insurances and medicare. If you figured on collecting $300 (75%) x 8.33 per day you'd have about $2500 /day or $75,000 a month. Then you add what the county gives them to run the service.

I don't see how it could be profitable either. Remember though how many people complained the previous owner had ripped the county off for years because he made money? Maybe they will be happy now

I plan on writing in Fins.

I read where sullivan told the board how well things were going over at ashe medics. He said they had responded to almost 1000 calls. He has been in business for 120 days so that means they are averaging 8.33 calls a day between 3 ambulances. Tell my how he is making any money running less than 3 calls a unit per day.

The closer the election comes, and the more the candidates become known, it seems more and more that the new options aren't much of an improvement, if any, over the incumbents. i mean, we made huge progress getting Poe and Price out, but it looks more and more like that may be it for this year. So, make a statement with your vote. Tell the mouth breathers you want change and them to step up their job. Write in Fins
