| Posted 6:50 pm, 04/11/2016 | I have always thought his campaign against Steve Goss was very unethical. If I remember right he brought up similar accusations against Goss about his travel logs. No matter what his political affiliation was Steve Goss served this area well. Personally, I doubt Dan did anything any different than others are doing, but if you run on ethics you better practice what you preach.

I like Steve Goss he seems like a good person but I have a problem with someone who says that money from the federal government for the Highway beautification program doesn't cost the tax payer anything. With roads and bridges that need to be repaired I don't think we should waste money on planting flowers year after year after year. Instead of wasting money on annual flowers just plant some nice ornamental trees and be done with it. |
I'm sorry I made a mistaken it wasn't Steve that told me that is was Cullie Tarleton.

It doesn't matter if Goss is dead or not. He held public office at his own choice. His time in office will always be open for criticism and discussion. That's part of taking the job

The Republican Party is dissolving and imploding on itself. Someone mentioned Franklin Graham, and this is definitely part of the problem. The Conservatives are now well divided into "Social Conservatives" and "Fiscal Conservatives". One group would spend all day long on restroom definition and having a "man of God" in office and the other group with tax cuts and getting rid of regulations. In this day, the two groups are not moving in harmony together and have split the party. This all began back with the Jerry Falwell "Moral Majority" movement that got Ronald Reagan elected. What was promised to save you and actually become your destruction.

Steve Goss died last October so since he can't defend himself anymore we should withhold any criticism of him, he was very responsive though if you wrote him, even if he disagreed with you, which I can't say the same for Dan Soucek.
The County has only been represented by Republicans on the state level for a short time, it's not inconceivable that a Democrat could win the seat.

Essentially Mr Graham is buying his own Senate Seat.

Yes Steve was wrong when he said it was not tax payer money. More than likely he meant it did not come from the transportation funds. He represented this area and wanted to make it better, you can't fault him for that. No matter how hard you try....those funds are going to be used for flowers not bridges. Its a fault of the federal government not local representatives making sure we are not looked over.

I have posted before my dislike of Samaritans Purse because I believe it is more like Franklin Grahams Wallet. I do not doubt the devotion that some of his people put into helping others, but I question the bloated salaries.
When I looked at the tax returns I noticed the large travel expenses, which is to be expected to some extent. My question is do you think the vague expense reports are something learned over a S.P.?

Being that both Soucek and his chosen successor both work/worked at Samaritans purse, I'd say so

I believe you would find Franklin Graham is responsible for this.

I've heard similar tumors. My sources are usually pretty accurate on tumors like this, but still, I haven't been able to have anything confirmed yet. As for timing, it was obvious the way he made his announcement so late into the filing period to try to stop others from filing so his personal pick would get the nomination. Resign now, get her appointed as his replacement, then when the news breaks about improper finances, with him already out of office, it will do minimum damage to her chance or the party.

I have heard rumors that they found out everything was not as he stated. However, that is all it is is rumors. I was hoping others might know why now?

I believe he was being audited due to some questionable campaign spending. I wonder if it has anything to do with his resigning
