Bad idea. If they do that, they might get re-elected.

Roark and the board should hold off doing anything else until after the elections.

I agree. We've been saying this on this site for years. There is plenty to criticize them for. I just don't see this one as worth the hassle.

And I fail to see how the citizens can continue to sit by while the three kings play God. The decisions that this board has made over the past few years could have long term effects on the residents and if people don't wake up and be proactive about potential issues that could affect our county rather than reactive then the bad decisions and power play agendas will continue. If people would wake up and vote intelligently we can be rid of these fools.

I fail to see how this is something to get pissed about (yet).

And let's not forget that helping out one resident at the expense of many does not constitute good governance.

They should have reminded the "complainant" (since you seem to think it was a courtroom and not a board meeting room) that this is an agricultural area and that one should thoroughly research the area and neighborhood prior to buying/moving and to avoid trying to change things to be more like from whence they came.

Let's be honest here, Roark was, and is, attempting to garner votes by schmoozing any Tom, D*** and Harry that makes a request whether the request is legitimate or not.

Roark along with the rest of the board agreed to look at the animal control ordinance to see if they could help out a resident of the county. What should they have done just told the guy to leave? laughed him out of the court room? Lets just try to be at least a little fair.

Good evening, Mr. Nelson.

The guy complaining stated he works from home and could live anywhere, but chose Ashe county.

If all he is going to do is ***** about noises in the country, then maybe he should pack up and move elsewhere.

Lets see if I have dorks score card correct. He has voted to make it all but impossible to open a new industry in the county and now he wants to regulate dog barking. What an idiot. There are already state noise ordinances regulating noise between the hours of 11pm and 7am.

In a move designed to cater to the flatlander votes, Roark positioned himself against local property/dog owners today by agreeing to consider amending animal control laws to regulate barking dogs at any time of day. Evidently Roark, (who failed to show for Farm Bureau's forum laden with questions designed to elicit the candidate's agricultural stance) fails to consider the rural nature of this county and the propensity of the majority of residents to dig in their heels when pushed the wrong way. This is a slap in the face to the agricultural community with working dogs and other "noisy" animals that could become a future target of newcomers who are unaccustomed to the rural agricultural nature of this county.
