Yeah, just think if each school had an extra $30,000 a year in their budgets for supplies and needs.

I don't support wasting money to put In God We Trust on the schools (or county government buildings). I think of the scripture which warns that those that pay outward homage to God to be seen of men have their reward.

The schools could use more supplies, etc. It's ridiculous that families already overburdened have to buy what was once considered standard school supplies just to make our schools function in addition to all other expenses.

The school board members are better educated and have more sense than the current commission board as demonstrated by this decision.

Dog is right. The county is full of stupid baptists.

Below is what happens when your cat walks across your keyboard. I agree with these statements, especially in that if we allow one group to post their motto and not another, watch out. We are opening up a Pandora's box with this narrow minded way of thinking. Afterall, who are we trying to impress or convince that we are "Good Christians"? Actions speak for themselves and I have seen so much meaness from our great leadership lately. No posted pretty words change the impression left by bad, underhanded behavior. "You will know them by their fruits", Chairman Roark.

People tend to cave quickly when it comes to religion and churches putting on pressure. Were you to notice only a few will call out the fanatics on this site. I never have had a problem telling the baptists how really stupid they are.

If I am correct when Nancy Henry addressed the commission regarding DSS she also asked why they wanted to put IN GOD WE TRUST all over the county. I think she said "shall we all paint a big rock in our yard white then paint in God we trust on it so to make sure everyone knows?" She said we do not have the money to that Watauga County has to throw around and that the people in the county might have liked to be asked before they decided to put signs all over. Also she said she though religion and government were suppose to be separate.

You cannot force people to believe in God by putting signs out nor should you

I don't have any problem with the School board's decision, as the Commissioners may find out in the future, by allowing this type of statement to be placed on public buildings what happens when some other group offers to pay to have their religious slogan placed on the building? What would be the basis of denying a Satanist (Ave Satanas) or Wiccan (an it harms none, do as ye will). What stops other groups from placing their slogan's on the courthouse?

Wow, Roark is stupid. A sign will change a kid's attitude?

What's next? "Only date girls from wealthy families", or "Make sure she is on birth control and bring at least two condoms", or PT Barnum's "There's a sucker born every minute".

I wonder if Jesus would be embarrassed by some of the folks that toss out his and God's name in vain and are too stupid to realize they are engaging in blasphemy?

America doesn't trust God - it trusts the Thermonuclear Bomb, it trusts Capitalism, it trusts Social Darwinism.

It would be one thing if Americans actually trusted in God.

The surest way to lose kids is to show them hypocrisy and stupidity on a regular basis.
