The calculation is complicated to some. However it doesn't matter if you work your workers part time or full time, if you would qualify as x number of full time employees (even if all are part time) then you are responsible to provide health care. (I don't remember the x been a few years since I read the bill....not to mention all the changes to the bills). I suspect they aren't the only ones in the county skirting the law and probably won't be the last caught either.

So the joint is only open weekends now?

I believe that is the point the poster was making. He's closed his restaraunt four days a week to keep from having to pay his employees.

Think about "zero" coming in.

I read a post that said " Think about how much Mr McMillian could save in wages if he closed the place permanently "

If that place ever caught on fire, it would take the fire department 3 days to put it out. Basically, they'll just have to wait till the grease burns up

If they ever close that place down the health department will never allow it to open back up unless its brought up to code.

What's the true story on why the "Closed due to Obamacare" sign on the front door?

I heard that the owner got in trouble with the "wage and hour" folks for paying people as part time and working them 50 hrs a week.

Anyone have in information?

Other than the occasional morning sausage biscuit to go, I've never been in the establishment...Never really seen the need to stand in the lines listening to a bunch of tourist running their pie holes..

I have eaten at Shatley for many, many years. While it is not the most modern up to date facility you do get decent food and it is your fault if you leave hungry. As one that has spent many an evening in different dinners, dives, and choke and pukes, I do not have the least of any problems with the place.

I know several current and past shatley employees who say its not an urban legend that Shatley does in fact recycle food and was once threatened closure for recycling food by one of the old health inspectors.
Also don't forget the flies that vomit and poop on the food yum yum

Most of the food is loaded with fat from being cooked in fatback and bacon grease, while this might taste good it is not healthy for anyone. If it were not for the tour buses and out-of-towners its highly unlikely the place would stay open

As for the condition of the property Lee has the money to do repairs or remodel but he doesn't want to spend the money to do it.

I don't eat there and never will!

The last time I ate at Shatley Springs the waitress just gave up and left us a flyswatter on our table. Its a swatt your own buffet.

Theres one affluent joint just up the road that is about as nasty. I wont touch it either.

Such as?

The 84 score is nothing really new for Shatley Springs. The age of the facility, lack of caring by the staff and a suspect water system makes it difficult to score much higher than the mid 80's. The inspector must have raised their prices for it to be posted now.

I'd rather eat off the river mayor's grill than to eat at that place.

I've always heard that about Shatley Springs, Daniel Boone Inn, and Greenfields when they were open. Seems to be the standard urban legend with any family style establishment.

My daughter used to work there and said they 'recycled' food. Took what was left from one table and put it in a bowl for the next bunch to eat.
