They repealed the tax free weekend on July 1 so it's gone. That's the latest update from the NCDOR website.

I think the legislature changed their minds at the last minute and decided to go ahead with the tax free weekend again this year.

Thank god the no sales tax weekend is gone. It was nothing but an excuse for businesses to fleece the rubes by not having to run sales. The customers paid more on those weekends and the state lost out on tax money

Next time you are up our way, take a ride up there and see our soon-to-be-I'm-not-so-sure-about-it International Airport. And that is merely one of the more obvious ones. We also own empty factory buildings that the County Gov't now owns. And that, means we own them, and there they sit. Doing nothing. We even refurbished an old High School and pithed into that too. Now it is an underused white elephant that is full from our dollar pithing. We gave it a nice name too. Family Central. But, you see, apparently most people up here have so much extra cash they don't mind pithing it away. I guess it should make me happy that so many of my fellow resident are o successful in there lives. Might make me feel richer too but it kind of really makes my stomach roll.

Airwolf if you owned property in Ashe you would have understood the idea of selling the airport. We here are pithing gallons and gallons of money pith into a pit called the Ashe County Airport. Some of us are sick of it. Although, I suppose your federal dollars have been pithed here too. It is money pithing however you cut it. It is nice that you can and will do what you are doing though. You see, up here it seems that we have an overabundance of money available to simply fritter (pith) away on frivolities like longer runways for larger jets etc when there aren't any larger ones that need to land here to land here. But mot of the voters up here tend to not want to point out the money pithing.

One, don't have a airport, and I can't afford to buy one.lol
Buying school supplies is a lot cheaper. I just try to help out school kids when I can.
Beside I work, they are 3 pay weeks for me in August. So I am going to help out a few kids this year.
They are not having Tax free weekend any more, that is what I have been told. That is from Walmart here in Wilkes, and Elkin.
Thanks everyone for the replies and help.

Sell that airport and you could buy a school with the supplies.

Disgusting - a mere one quarter of a cent increase on the tax rate would buy these kids their supplies.
