The annual State of the Bible survey says more Americans treat the Bible as a guidebook rather than the Word of God. Nineteen percent of adults are skeptical of the Bible, up 10 points from 2011. For the first time, the percentage of skeptics ties with the percentage of those engaged with the Bible. The president of the American Bible Society says today's young skeptics are saying, "It's just like any other piece of literature, . . . " and they may not come back. The Apostle Peter wrote to Christ followers in 2 Peter 3:2-3, "that you should remember the predictions of the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior through your apostles, knowing this first of all, that scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing, following their own sinful desires." Peter says the move away from the Bible by young adults is an indicator that judgment may be near. Just a Thought � 4/43/14
