Teacher salaries

Basker I think we are missing the most unappreciated hardest worker there that deserves more than the teachers and thats the Janitor. He opens the school each day, mops and cleans up after the nasty teachers and is there year round while the teachers are off weeks at a time.

The cafeteria workers deserve more than the teachers. They actually put some effort into their job

Shall we go over again why they are already over paid?

Teachers do deserve to be paid well. However, when you have a lady making 94,000. to set on her a** - that's a problem - 79,000. to a former high school principal who couldn't even be successful at that job - name him assistant superintendent and pay him this salary - ridiculous waste of money

Trust me, she is overpaid.

If not already published the list appears to now be limited to those who were really opposed to it being published in the first place, namely the Superintendent and the staff of the head shed as well as the principals and assistants at the various schools.

If the paper wanted to do some news reporting, with the above data as a starting point they could request the same data from neighboring school systems, and or systems with similar enrollment, compare the success rates of the systems as publicly reported, such as end of grade testing results, graduation rates and the like. You also need to determine each systems supplement paid per teacher, the additional supplements paid are over and above the previously shared state pay schedules. Then you can determine if the money we are paying per student is yielding the results desired.

Why would I do that, and miss the hillbilly chronicles?

Clodhopper last time I checked that mobile home of yours has a tongue, axles, and wheels. You can hook up to it and drag it away from here.

Of course you think that. You don't pay any taxes so there's no reason for you to care how the government spends money

**** you're nosey.. But that's to be expected in a small hillbilly town..

Clodhopper perhaps for the ignorant like you I should have said school administration.

A teacher is the greatest job there is especially if you love children. Posting their wages in the paper shouldn't be a problem for any of them. Making great money is worth it all to most of them who could care less about the below average child. I know this for a fact!

Along with the median income though you have to look at the cost of living for an area. Granted, typically the higher the median income, the higher the cost of living. I haven't looked lately, but I thought the cost of living in Forsyth was a bit on the low side in relation to the median income. On the flip of that, watauga has a high cost of living (slightly higher than Charlotte) in relation to the median income.

Anyone notice how the only one to really raise a stink was a retired teacher? I guess the real teachers are getting ready to have the summer off.

Yes dog I am aware that most of the cities give a supplemental income to their teachers. I was not sure of exact figures. If it's between 4-8k that's in some cases not going to help as much as you think. Forsyth you'd have to make 10k more than here to make Median County income in the same time, you'd have to make 20k more in Mecklenburg to reach that county's median income in the same time frame.

I think you nailed part of the problem
