Why I won't vote for Williams

Held to a higher standard? Thats funny. We've covered this subject before in detail. Its kind of funny, that before, when Ive brought up the subject that most barneys are cowards with ego problems, and the biggest addicts and thieves can be found behind a badge, Ive received threats on my life. But it seems that now people are finally figuring out I was right.

Inside, here is the way it is. If and employee of any business, or of the County, Or of the Sheriff's Dept gets a DWI off duty and not driving a gov't or company owned vehicle it is no business whatsoever of the employer. The employer might offer alcohol counseling if they wanted to. Now, there would be a problem if the SO found someone DWI and didn't arrest them because of "who they ware" or "who they know", then I would say something was rotten in the SO. Not the case here. Remember that they even allowed Hoppy's doper sister to be arrested and filmed and shown on Nat Geo. That had to be embarrassing for the Dept and for Hoppy, but they didn't hide it or sugar coat it. Nothing wrong there. And as for the employee showing up to buy illegal drugs (off duty I assume) shows me that the undercover operation was being run professionally and hushed up otherwise the employee would have heard about it through the SO grapevine and certainly wouldn't have gone there. Having straightened that out, I guess the Sheriff fired the employee. That is his right too. But, he would not have been out of line to offer a mandatory drug dry out rehab and counseling program. That is assuming the employee hadn't had this kind of trouble before. I don't see that any of your examples showed poor management on behalf of the Sheriff. And you need to be made aware that all the screening in the world won't keep a small number of humans from straying from the rules at some point. Some are more prone to it than others and the mot obvious one are screened out before they to be hired.

The jailer didn't have a known history of drug use/dealing. If the sheriff could control what people (no matter who they are) do, then we wouldn't even have the need for law enforcement. The jailer was caught and fired. What more do you want? Your post is invalid and makes you look like a fool.

I Disagree, If Sheriff Williams has a employee show up to make an illegal buy at a drug house, than he has already not done his job. Once again these guys are supposed to be at a higher level. Saying that, the sheriff should do an extensive back ground check on these people, which they do not. If he does his job the right way before an incident occurs, than this should not happen.

What about the employee that got to keep his job after receiving a DWI, does this mean that he has a strong department to you as well?

These policies you speak of, I guess they don't cover DWI. They can go out and arrest Ashe County Citizens for Drinking and Driving and also keep their own jobs when their fellow mouth breathers catch them doing the same thing.

And yes I agree with there could be more proactive management and more random drug test screens.

I wasn't going too, anyway.

If his own employee showed up to make an illegal buy and was fired, to me points out that Sheriff Williams runs a strong department.

1. The investigations division knows how to keep its mouth shut, thus not compromising an in-going case.

2. There are policies in place which punish employees who commit certain crimes, and those crimes are punished.

Could there be more proactive management of problem prone activities, sure there could be, random drug screens and unannounced weapon qualifications would be two I could think of.

Is Williams perfect, NO, (you got that right)

Guess he really has the department under control. Did you know he had to fire a deputy for showing up at drug house while his other employees where doing a under cover sting. ya he doing a bang up job.

Wonder why he didn't save that story to release the day before early voting, instead of his 2 year old drug bust

Accurate and well said Only.

Well, I can't say why I will not vote for Williams, because I voted FOR him yesterday. I did not vote for Winters because of his lack of experience in running any type of business, planning and implementing a multi-million dollar budget, and no demonstrated ability to lead a group of employees.

Is Williams perfect, NO, he does have the experience, as outlined above, to be the highest elected official in Ashe County.

People die every day for all sorts of reasons. You cant save them all.

Fins you are the one making stupid statements! Death is nothing to make stupid comments about. There are usually loved ones left behind, parents, children, spouses, etc. and you prove to be the idiot asking why one is too many.

Fins

Why is one too many? People chose to poison theirself and investigations take time. Your statement is kind of stupid this time

Wonder how many deaths there have been in Ashe since Feb. 2012 related to drugs? One would be too many, but is there anyway to find out exact total?

Well i'm glad that you are embarrassed , but at the same time if you needed their assistance you would be on that telephone dialing 911, and be darn thankful when them rather husky officers showed up.. As for control, if you could do any better why isn't your name on the ballot? It's easy to sit behind a alias screen name and talk trash, why not step into their shoes for a day. Then come back and update your opinion!!!

Ok about National Exposure; It embarrasses me that I'm part of this county when the show comes on. His employees look sloppy, most of them cant even fit inside the cloths, disrespectful. I feel like he needs to get control of his department, which he does not have control over.

Tim Winters has my vote, and I listed the reasons why I would not be voting for Williams this year. There are other reasons why I will not be voting for Williams, but I do not feel this is the appropriate place to post all the other stuff that's went down there.

Note from GoAshe: a portion of this post was removed that was in response to the earlier trolling.

I use to be a fan of Williams.

1. Hollifield, pled guilty to multiple sexual offenses charges, Williams keep him here in our county as a trustee. This was his choose 100%

2. One of his jailers received a D.W.I. He keep him and did not fire him. I thought they are supposed to be held at a higher level than the public.

3. Todays raid is two years old. Supposed to be protecting the public and not waiting until the day before early voting. Sounds like we are more worried about votes than putting bad guys in jail. Remember this is why you were elected. If this was not about votes, why was Jefferson Police and West Jefferson Police not included with the article. They had to help out in some way.

4. Southern Justice, None of his employees wear their seat belts however I get a ticket for not wearing mine. Again I thought you are supposed to be held at a higher level than the public

5. School Resource Officers, Waste of money

Tim Winters has my vote
