I don't know if the chief jailer got her teeth fixed aficionados. All we can do is hope.. Jack, the chief jailer that buck fired was hired and trained by Williams. She was asked to take the position after Buchanan hired the outside chief which resulted in the lawsuit. Again, from the jailers that I know and talked to, she was doing an excellent job. But of course because she worked under Buchanan. She was fired to make room for the toothless woman that was chief before that everyone complained about.

And unfortunately, the GOP didn’t run a candidate last time that was competent enough to wipe his own *** without assistance.

It was stated on this site when Williams ran the last election that he would not serve the entire term and none of us believed he would do that to us. But his plan was to retire and put bucket in his place for 2 years prior to the next election so as to season him. But we all know how that went south. County parties are doing this more and more when elected officials are in office long enough to retire. Bucket knows this wont be a choice he could make.

the Only complaint I had with Williams was that he signed on to do that stupid tv show. Well, I did have another complaint. That he wouldn’t fire that fat pig Hoppy. As for the deputies, I’m equally critical of all law enforcement since they so commonly have an ego problem and think they deserve special recognition. Given the types of individuals the job attracts, I expect I’ll have the same issues to call out on the Barney’s no matter who is high sheriff.

I have no complaints over the job Williams performed. More of the same wouldn’t be a horrible thing. But it’s not the smartest path. Having an educated sheriff that understands modern technology seems like a smart idea. Both candidates have connections to officer related shootings. Personally, I would rather that not be the case, but given that choice, the candidate that learned from those cases and wants to change department policies to try to keep more citizens from being killed makes sense

If Absher is elected sheriff it will be the same ole continuation of Williams' saga.

Read Absher's answer to the Houck/Shatley question closely. You will see he never really answered the part about lessons learned. It appears from his answer that since the criminal charges were cleared and procedures were okay he plans on continuing as before. No mention of the civil actions. 30 years in one place is 30 years of doing the same thing over and over.

Dont forget that bufurts jail has caused a law suit. That alone should answer your question as to the change.

Absher is a Democrat. He didn't tell us his views on the first or second amendment. But most democrats don't support guns or free speech these days.

I am dumbfounded that he fired the last Chief jailer who was doing an excellent job according to the jailers and put the old chief jailer back in charge. From what I hear, this chief jailer is damaging his reputation. Most jailers i know have told me that they will be voting for Phil in hopes of getting a new Chief Jailer.
