I’ve just been reading the Medical Pedulum Swingith series on the ACL website. And to be written by a doctor, they could be some of the least informative articles in the subject I’ve ever read. I found it alarming that he didn’t bother to point out the risk of opiod blockers if you are in an accident or emergency. These drugs can prevent pain relievers from working, and could present dangers if doctors aren’t aware the patient is on opiod blockers.

Also, I’m very disappointed in a doctor that talks about only treating addiction with pharmaceuticals. Usually the root of addiction are significant psychological issues. And treating addiction with just medication and without some form of therapy is nothing more than treating the symptoms of a disease and not the disease itself.
