Did you think I forgot you pudding neck? First off departments have ambulances, and first responders that can baby sit the hose jockeys at a fire. You are no more special then any other tax payer in this county that you should have Ashe medics by your side. The ambulances should remain available for the entire county and not just a few hose jockeys.

Yes, but if they can triage you or I during an emergency until the paramedics arrive, why cant they do the same for their fellow hose jockeys?

Fins lot of difference in between the skill set of first responders and paramedics. Basic life support vs advanced life support

If a person has an emergency and calls 911, it will be the FD first responders that show up and start treating until the rescue squad or ambulance gets there. If those first responders are good enough for the rest of us, they can triage hose jockeys.

jack rip her- because the squad has such low attendance on anything other than a rescue call. This morning, dispatch had a possible structure fire and no one from the squad showed up to back up fire units. Yesterday a wreck went out and they had a unit en route in minutes, with multiple members checking en route POV.

You all as the bored have got to put a stop to all this and iit is the responsibility of the president of the board to handle that and if he cannot do that and he is on a small volunteer organization how in the world will he be able to be a commissioner for all of Ashe County making decisions, won't happen, never happen . The county statute, G.S. 153A-44, provides that the board may excuse a member, whereas the city statute, G.S. 160A-75, simply says that a member “may be excused” without specifying who does the excusing. Another important difference is that the city statute enforces the duty to vote by providing that if a person is present at the meeting, does not vote, and has not been excused, the person is considered to have voted “yes.” The county statute does not contain this provision

I can see that happening black energy you brought out a good point. Speaking on the advertising look around and look at all the glory it's all about me pictures and adds. I also found out that the upon doing anything the captain wants to without going to his board members or the membership he had a big article printed in the newspaper last year that was not approved by the board or membership and from what I was told it's all a bunch of Lies. I think the best thing that organization can do is to put him out of there or either move all of the rescue out into the other departments

I personally thank Blevins and husband planned this all alone for a political boost. I think myself if someone runs for a position where money is involved I think a department should look at their credit rating. If you have someone that cannot keep their payments on their home up and lose it and have to rent and they do not hold a full-time job what would you expect if they got into a big Bank fund somewhere. They might think I can borrow $50 here to buy a steak dinner with or fill up with gas and I will pay it back later but later Never Comes

If Osborne gets in as commissioner, it will do nothing, because he will have to recuse himself. The Rescue Squad's board should have put a stop to this to start with and as president of the board, Osborne needs to step up. They are the ones responsible for the monies and all of the budget. If there is anything with discrepancy, it falls in the lap of the board. I agree that each department should have to turn in an audit to the county. The county already pays the squad $45,000 to run the few calls they are dispatched to. The problem they are having now isn't rescue calls, it's the back up EMS and fire structure standbys. If there is a rescue call, there is a ton of members show up, but if there is a fire structure, Ashe Medics is having to send an ambulance to standby and do rehab for us. All we are going to see if they get paid personnel is a repeat of what happened to Todd Fire. A member who is paid to sit on his butt and do nothing or he might plan on running the squad from his plumbing shop.
