Thats just a stupid question Timmy.

Hopkins couldn't have afforded to defend himself. He had 4 family members put their houses up just to get bailed out of jail. I know the lawyers for Buchanan were FOP lawyers. They almost always provide defense for cops at little to no cost.

Where is your proof of this?

The prize hog is lying about paying 6 figures for a lawyer. His attorneys were from the blue brotherhood. They were at no cost. Just like bufurts attorneys were from the FOP at no cost to bufurt.

Hopefully now he can continue his career in law enforcement.

I've said before I don't think Bucky is a sure win in November.

He will win if you run Mochen against him in this county in the General Election.

Hendrix might have a good chance to beat him and even Howell might could.

Bucky's problem is that people don't want another Sheriff that could retire as happened with the fiasco this past 6 months. Bucky has more than enough time, it's more about age than his ability that has some people balking, however those same people will largely vote for Bucky over Mochen because they see Mochen as an outsider.

If Mochen had waited and down some leg work over the next few years he might have a chance later down the road but not this year.

Don't worry Bucky will be in the driver's seat soon and we can get back to nothing being done while he collects a paycheck. Remember his famous saying, ”Don't put ripples in my pond.”

Buchanan resigned to avoid being tried. That's to me an admission of guilt......

Funny, a lot of your are saying Hoppie was innocent until proven guilty, but you're quick to proclaim Buchannan guilty without s trial. No one had ever been indicted over a FOIA request. I'll it what it is, it was a political stunt to get Buchannan out and erase the competition for Bucky. But hey, that's okay, it only cost us, taxpayers, 71k. And if the charges were really in the interest of justice, then why were they dropped? Keep you're heads buried in the sand fellas, it just goes to show what hypocritical ***es you really are. Okay haters, start spewing your fictitious rhetoric. Ready, set, GO!

His mental state isn’t that complex.

in a physical sense he has been free, but now in a mental sense as well....

He had always been free, Timmy. Did you forget the law is innocent until proven guilty? He was bonded out after being charged.

Free at last, Thank God Almighty he's free at last..

Its much easier to get a civil judgment than a criminal conviction. I do believe the county will pay in the end. I always thought and mentioned some time ago that I thought Hopkins had been overcharged and he'd never be found guilty of murder though I had wondered about the weapon charge. I'm not surprised he was found not guilty, as pointed out by others LEOs are given a large leeway. If Hopkins had been a private citizen in a similar altercation he probably would have been convicted of at least the weapon charge and possibly the murder charge.

The silence of our media on the issue of the trial and case means we probably won't ever know how much is paid out to make the civil trial go away unless someone like Buchanan blabs again violating the do not disclose agreement of the county and thus risking further lawsuits....

I didn't make any threats I just stated that if he runs up on the wrong bunch over there he might be in trouble. The same thing could happen to any of us the difference being that most of us don't act high and mighty and deal with people who are thugs and criminals some of which have nothing to lose. I remember as a kid when the lake was drained a number of cars were found and at least one dead person.

First of all, you are full of crap. No one has told you anything. And even if Joe did make a threat, you have no way of knowing who joe actually is. We’ve covered this point in great detail. Second, Joe didn’t make a threat. He made a comment about the thugs in Carter county. A comment, that based on my observations of carter county, that I would say is fairly accurate.

While Hippo was found not guilty of murder, the verdict does not vendicate the sheriff’s department of any wrong doings in the death of a citizen. What the tape clearly showed was that Shatley tried to retreat, back to his home. He was not a threat, even if at the moment the prize hog thought he was. So in a civil court, a wrongful death case will end up costing the county, just like the first person that Hippo shot.
