Even if they don't go directly to the the Sheriff for the reports, he controls those that give them to the reporters. Arrest records are public record. There is no need for ID to obtain them.

Jr.. the reporters don't ask for the arrest report from the Sheriff.. or can't you read?

Just so you know, the reporters come to the visiting window at the jail and ask for the arrest report.
If they don't come and ask, they don't get it..
That's a fact boys and girls.

Mobile Patrol is offline right now. It wasn't very good anyway. Yes, it told who was arrested, but half the time the reason wasn't listed. That would be helpful to know what crime these people committed. Many on it weren't arrested in Ashe. They are being held for Surry County. I checked NC Court Dates to figure that out.

That's largely because the Sheriff started harassing the Jefferson Post reporters and requiring their IDs and fingerprints to get public records....

It is on Ashe Mountain Times, from the Sheriff's Office.
However, you have to have a subscription.
The Jefferson Post don't publish it.
