Whether they were fired or quit didn't make any difference, Bucket and the commissioners made sure that all their sick/annual leave days was give back back! The good ol boy system in action! Vote for Howell and lets make Ashe great again! Stupid Liberals!!!

I'M SO MAD!

If bucket had stayed under bufurt he would have been a school yard guard at best or bufurt would have fired him as soon as he opened his mouth against bufurt.

It's just another one of their rumors they are trying to start. The dems are getting desperate. Buck has nothing to put out there except experience. He's had a pie job for years.

Is this account of Howell taking along a high school intern on a SWAT mission for real or just a rumor? I can't imagine how anyone would think it would be ok to take a teenage civilian along while trying to arrest an armed suspect.

Responsible? Like a sheriffs employees using inmates for their own personal gain and then allowing those inmates to have illegal contraband like tobacco and cellphones?

oh that’s rich coming from one of this sites #1 complainers and busybodies. I expect those serving the taxpayers to be responsible. You want to talk lawsuit and liability- just think about how much it would have cost if that boy had been shot or injured in the high speed chase. Your holyier than thou attitude when it comes to your opinion and no one else’s is showing in that comment.

Bucky put the entire county and all the teens in harms way by appointing the toothless one to head the jail...

I’m sure the intern thought it was cool. The point though is the lack of good judgment in making a decision that placed a high school student in harms way.

Dang, I wished he would have took me on a high speed chase when I was a teen rather than have been the one being chased. hmmmmm, if an intern told it, It was probably something like 36 mph in a 35 mph zone... Matter of point, Howell wasn't known for many (if any) 'high speed' chases. lmao. If a rumor of a high speed chase with an intern is all you have against Howell... I suppose you'd be voting for Howell over Bucky any day.

If the intern didn’t complain, how is it any of your business?

Well, Huskies Fan, if you think Williams/Bucky Southern Justice stunt damaged your wallet. If Bucky gets elected, he will sign us up for another show.. you can bet on it.

Aficionados, I hear it's a side effect for all of the above...

Sounds like I struck a nerve. Yes Howell was still a sworn deputy when he was in the position of head dispatcher but as head dispatcher should he leave his position when he may have been needed there? Or even more importantly should he put a teenage intern in a police car and take him on a high speed chase? You overlooked that little detail in your defense of his actions. Others on this site have been slinging mud in Absher’s direction for several weeks but I didn’t hear you step in and talk about mud slinging then.

What medical reasons could cause someone to lose their teeth? All I’m aware of is poor hygiene on the individuals own part. Well, or drug use.

I should correct something. In my last post I used the word "coward" and I should not have. Bucky is absolutely not a coward and that wasn't fair.

He's just not proven himself to be a leader. An acceptable sidekick to a leader like Williams? Yes. A leader on his own? I'm not seeing it.

I regret using the word "coward" though and wanted to make that clear to anyone reading.

Since we are on the topic of appropriate language, can we please stop referring to the woman at the jail as "the toothless one"? I'm a Howell voter but I think that's terrible to call her that. I don't know her but if she truly doesn't have teeth there may be a bunch of medical reasons for that and we should be above that.

My spouse is involved in real estate so I know how much money our family lost (continues to lose) when that Southern Justice show was running (and it still airs) because it made us here in Ashe look like a bunch of hillbillies. We shouldn't be doing that to ourselves too.

Lets stick to the facts without the name calling.

Oh and while I shouldn't continue to engage the desperate ones, I forgot to address this nonsense the same poster (Fed Up) just posted about Howell "thriving" under Buchanan.

Um, DID YOU FORGET that Howell filed to run AGAINST Buchanan while he was still working under the Buchanan administration? Fed Up you must have forgotten to mention that just like you forgot to mention that that "dispatcher" was still a cop, huh?

That Buchanan guy was one of the worst things that I've seen happen to the county in my life. Howell has been here his whole life and I'm sure he saw it the same way.

How did Howell handle Buchanan coming in? He had the backbone to stay and protect his guys as long as he could and then actually filed to run against his boss.

How did Bucky handle it? Did he stay and try to protect his guys as long as he could against Buchanan? No. He quit ON THE SPOT the moment the commissioners voted. He KNEW Buchanan would destroy the lives of many of his deputies but instead if sticking around to protect them, which is what a man does, he took his ball and went home to pout where he couldn't stick up for anyone that counted on him. He left his deputies vulnerable to the life-destroyer who was firing and investigating good men and women with kids to feed and rent to pay.

Bucky left when his guys needed him the most. - That's NOT a leader.

Howell stayed and did his best to protect his people for as long as he could. - That's a leader.

Howell was never a Buchanan guy. He just wasn't a coward who ran at the first sight of adversity.

The desperation of the Bucky supporters is starting to show and it's sad that it results in lies and half-truths being spewed here out of that desperation when even Bucky and Phil Howell themselves have been man enough to not resort to that stuff.

First, one comes on here to falsely claim that Howell "wasn't a Republican" last year in an attempt to suggest that he was a democrat. That was a clear attempt to start a rumor to sway the election. When that lie was called out and shut down that person disappeared.

Now we've got one claiming Howell was "a dispatcher" "in SWAT gear" in a vehicle pursuit. Funny how that poster forgets to mention that Phil was still a FULLY SWORN DEPUTY SHERIFF while he was assigned to FIX dispatch. He never stopped being a certified deputy and still had to do real cop stuff. It's not like we have that many cops here in Ashe. This was another attempt to start a rumor of wrongdoing.

If Bucky and Phil aren't resorting to lies then why are people on here doing it for them?

You guys want to sling mud, well then let's talk about the downfalls of your boy that 1. could have prevented an innocent man (Houck) from being shot if he had not called in about his neighbor or if he had told the responding officers that said neighbor was legally blind and deaf. 2. Who just a couple of years ago when he was supposed to be head dispatcher, suited up in SWAT gear and took a teenage INTERN on a high speed chase after an armed suspect in Creston. So now let's talk about bad judgement calls. 3. Don't forget he was promoted and thrived under Buchanan which tells me ALOT.
