He’s trying to mislead people about his identity. There is no such email address through the NC Legislature server

You are right about the email address however the Phone number is correct. From the post AC928 sounds like a DOT worker to me. Maybe the head of the DOT for Ashe?

Just to be factual on the pipe replacement on 16, the pipe has been clogged there for years. Yet it had to be replaced on a Friday just before a holiday week. Lets not mention the water that stands on the 4 lane at the Motel just before Winners circle for years.

Try looking at the Baldwin Rd (formerly Beaver Creek) just east of Bald Mtn. Rd.

So did this information come from a member of the dot upper staff or a family member of the dot? I think they have gotten a good spanking for the stunt.

Mr Jordon while it is admirable you have taken the time to look into this matter I have to question your sources. First off there is more then one asphalt plant in the area and the plant also operates on Saturday. There is no excuse for leaving that hole that got so bad a trooper had to be stationed at the hole to try and slow down traffic. Would they have left a hole like this on 421? Second why are you referring to the dot as "our"? Last I checked they are still state workers and work for the tax paying citizens.

My BF and I were out riding around to look at some property on Tuesday and there were 3 cuts across the paved road that runs beside Shatley Springs from NC 16 in different places through there between Shatley Springs and Hwy Old 16 where culverts run under the road. I have no idea how long they have been there or if they are still there since I seldom travel in that area but I didn't see any signs.....

1 - In regards to the NC 16 pipe replacement, our crews replaced that pipe on Friday with plans to patch back and have everything completed on Friday evening. While they were working on the pipe the asphalt plant broke down, which is completely out of NCDOT's control. Our forces then compacted ABC stone on the top layer in efforts to minimize any potholes from forming and placed broken pavement signs to warn motorists. The asphalt plant was repaired over the weekend and our forces patched the pipe back first thing Monday morning.

2 - As for Beaver Creek Rd, they must be referring to the construction project that Vannoys Construction has under contract since no other work has been completed in the Beaver Creek Rd area. We had someone to look at this area this morning and we are unsure of their concerns. Any bumps or flaws in the pavement are very minimal.

Are you able to contact those concerned about this issue? I am happy to answer any questions or look further into the issue as necessary. I can be reached by email at [email protected] or phone 919-733-7727.

All they want to do now is add a bicycle lane to every street.District 11 DOT is foolish.

You think its a lack of leadership on the Ashe local level? And it trickles down to the employees not giving a crap or just the dot in general?

Fixed with a small asphalt bump. Much better than the bone breaking hole.

The Ashe DOT does not do good work. That cut on NC 16 is just one example. Another is on Beaver Creek road near Bald Mountain Rd. They cut across the road to replace a culvert quite a while back, and put way to much asphalt back causing a big bump. If the DOT farms out this kind of work you can count on a good job being done. If the DOT does the work, it is far from acceptable.

A call and an email to North Wilkesboro this morning would be in order. I think Pettyjohn is still the head. Remind him who pays the dot.

A trooper was sitting at the detail shop this afternoon. He was running blue lights. Trying to slow people down. Larger signs, further from the cut, would have been less expensive than tying up a trooper each shift.

It is very bad. I hit it last night at 60mph because I didn’t have enough time to appropriately slow down with the sign being so close. Surprised we didn’t bust a tire.

I forgot to mention that as well but you can bet if Rep. Jordan is contacted about this he will contact the Dot and it would get fix. If it is as bad as close says maybe a call to 911 tonight about it and they can call out the Dot.

A better idea---call and email the dot.

If it is that bad then you should contact Jonathon Jordan.

It's maybe a 1/4 mile before shatley springs rd going north . YES high it's rediclous to cut the road and only put gravel back . It has compacted inches and the sign is maybe 70 ft before cut . I thought we ripped the front end out my buddy f-350 when we hit it last night . Stupid crap like this is only allowed in this county . I'm in a type of construction that sometimes we have to cut a state rd and in many county's you have to put flowable fill back in the cut . The least they could've done was put binder or topping back in it . I have no idea how you keep from going down if you're on a bike . I used to ride and am think full I never hit anything like that hole .
