Fiber optic technology is great. But unfortunately skybest doesn’t use it to its fullest potential. They dumb it down to 2008 capabilities. And their cable boxes are even worse than that. As for streaming, the problem is you still can’t get every show and live event legally. There’s a lot of incorrect information out on the legality of streaming. Studios and governments are trying to figure out how to crack down and prosecute streaming.

For anyone interested in saving $$$ Switching from Cable to Streaming is very simple. Great website that will compare services, streaming options and will teach one how to make the switch. Have been 100% streaming since 2016. Previously paying $166 for cable. Streaming cost now $52. Huge advantage there are no service contracts!!! I use Directv Now, Netflix and Acorn.

If you have skybest fiber available you would be a fool not to use it.

Nobody needs cable TV anymore, you can just livestream any big sporting/political event, and you can find any and every TV show to stream online as well. I just want internet, I think I'm going with skybest for the fiber optic line, I've heard good things about that technology.

The fiber internet service I have had no problems with. However most consumers have computers that are not even capable of running 45mpbs. When compared to other co-ops skybest and the rest are all around the same too high price. As alluded to by fins the tv is junk. It freezes ever so slightly and is aggravating as hades and is especially noticeable watching sports. I am planning on gong back to direct tv. I can put up with their prices and going out in the rain better then the freezing from skybest.

MY comment regarding Skybest is based on 9 previous years of truly horrible service and ever increasing rates from CenturyLink. You can also try HughesNet or Earthlink. They are initially more expensive but offer a wider variety of rate packages.

Skyline sucks as a company to deal with. Their customer service sucks, their prices are high, and their techs are barely more than trained monkeys. On top of that the hardware they use is complete garbage. Especially the cable boxes they use for their tv service. But, their TV service is garbage too, so it fits. The quality is about like a good YouTube video. This quality issue is especially noticeable when watching a channel like ESPN or CNN with a ticker at the bottom of the screen. Over all they are completely behind in quality, products, and prices offered by similar service providers. And to add to all of this, they now use federal money to compete against local small businesses in the region. But, for much of the area, they are the only viable option for internet and phone. And in those cases, it’s the best choice.

Skybest is your best bet. Depending on what area of WJ you are in, fiber is available.

Hey y'all,
I'm new to Ashe County and am wondering who has the best internet service out here, and what it's going to cost me per month.
Any recommendations?
