Apparently I was wrong about the Building Reuse Grants only gong to tier 1 counties. Ashe will still be eligible as a tier 2.

Them tree boys must have started claiming more income from the previous cash stash.

Average household size in Ashe is 2.2 people.

Average family size is 2.55.

That roughs out to $8.85 per hour per person per household. People who travel outside the county to work are the ones making more money, in general.

That medium income figure sounds high for this county. That's like 19 dollars an hour for someone working 40 hours a week, 9.55 an hour if two people in the home working 40 hours a week and getting that. I suppose the top 1% of the county is heavily skewering the numbers......

Dare covers a big area. It covers a big area on the mainland that is swamp and farm country. You could probably cut it in half, and the west section would be tier 3 and the east tier 1.

About as flawed as the census for Ashe county. No way Surry, Rockingham, Caswell, and Cleveland are still tier 1 if Ashe and Alleghany are tier 2. I would also question Dare being a tier 2 and not a tier 3.

We have moved from tier 1 (most distressed) to a tier 2. Tier 3 are the least distressed counties. Since we are no longer a tier 1 county we will not be receiving the Building Reuse Grants we got this past year.

Out of 100 counties Ashe ranks 60 with 1 meaning the most distressed; Edgecombe is ranked number 1.
Chatham County is ranked highest at 100.

Here in Ashe,12 month unemployment (Nov 17-Oct 18) was 3.73%......rank 78.
Median household income for 2016, $39709......rank 32.

Wilkes and Alleghany are also tier 2 counties while Watauga is ranked tier 3 with an overall rank of 88.
