I've read that the fear about a rifle behind every blade of grass is an NRA myth. Don't know which is true. But Japan didn't invade because they had no intention of invading. 2nd Amendment of not, they knew trying to invade America was impossible given their size and distance. They never intended to fight the US in a war. Their goal was to disable the navy in hopes of taking the US out of WWII, and to put a stop to the US shutting down their supply of resources. They had no idea that when motivated, we could turn out war ships in days instead of years. Never mind that their attack on Pearl was a failure and only destroyed one ship.

Japan refused to invade the United States because they feared a rifle behind every blade of grass. Our 2nd Amendment is what keeps us from being invaded in the modern day. Our politicians keep wanting to take that from you, look at the Debates, see what Beto said and every one of the other democrats cheered him.

I agree with FINS we have not faced an enemy capable of defeating us in 70 years. For all their pomp the Soviet military was never really a true match for us, the only real danger the Soviets posed was the nuclear threat.

Even China's 'modern' military today would pose no threat out of its strategic nuclear weapons to the United States. For all their show they really are not as well trained, and not as well equipped. Technologically they are catching up because prior to President Trump the rest of our politicians were allowing them to steal IP left and right and copy everything. (the only Chinese carrier is a Kiev class conversion from the Soviet era and it is in no way equal to a Nimitz class more less a Ford......)

We have made to many enemies keeping our troops in around 120 nations for decades. Trump's right to pull our troops home. I mean the Border Patrol is nothing but a scam, a way for politicians to spend more money, before it's invention the Army did border duty.....

Freedom is not relative. It's been well defined in the founding documents of this nation. Political powers though are willing to trade freedom for the impression of safety.

"Freedom" is a rhetorical illusion - a word almost without any relevant definition.

You can't be "free" if you have to work, have to eat, need shelter, need transportation, and are immortal, and immune to sickness.

Americans can be "more free" than others in some areas of life, but we are not "free". That lie of "Freedom" keeps people and happy within their structural cages.

The real threat to our relative freedoms isn't from Washington, it's from within ourselves.

The only real threat to our freedom today is coming out of Washington DC.

We haven't had a foreign enemy capable of threatening freedom since the Nazis. Maybe the Soviets in the 70's. And that's with or without our military. Understand the difference in protecting freedom and keeping us safe from threat.

Afic, do you lock your house when you leave? How about your vehicle? Do you remove the keys when you leave it? Our enemies do not mess with us because we have a strong, competent military. You have said on this site, that you never leave your house without a weapon. Why? Who are you so afraid of?

Do y'all really think a real vet would use a screen name of StolenValor?

StolenValorBrah - go see the Master Sargent at the VA office in the courthouse. He has a list of businesses around who honor vets with discounts of varying amounts. It is from the Thank A Vet program.
From one vet to another ;)

The biggest advantage to the military is it's the biggest and most thorough job training program there is. I heard a chef talk about he prefers to hire former military in his restaurants because they don't complain. They do the job.

Really? Because what threat has American freedom faced? No foreign power has threatened our freedom since WWII. I might give the Korean and Vietnam veterans credit because at the time, we thought the Soviet Union was a real threat. We know now they never had the resources to invade the US. The only threat our freedom has faced since WWII has been the politicians.

Without a strong military, none of us would be free today. I appreciate those who serve.

I don't care what his circumstances are. He thinks he is entitled for taking a job that he asked for. Of course, that would be if he actually was a veteran and not a trll.

I support our troops, so very few volunteer to serve. It is not their fault our leaders send them to war constantly. We need to change our leaders to stop that, in fact our current President has shown remarkable restraint, if anyone else was in the White House right now we'd probably be at war with Iran and sending troops to Hong Kong.

I used to joke with a fellow I worked with, he was a good fellow. Used to bring folks a biscuit on the day when senior discount was given. He was a senior. I told him half jokingly that the day would come that they'd be charging us more because we were old not less. He'd laugh a bit and say don't say that. I still believe it though, as there are more and more old, there will be less and less discounts for the old.

Fins, why don't you grow up and give up. You have no idea what his circumstances are. And whether he was infantry, supply, or a cook or a clerk, the important thing here is service to our country. Anonymity really suits you. It fits you like the cloak of cowardice.
