Hey Johnnie, how many fire clubs have you and your wife been thrown out of?

So you dont have a problem paying for a landing strip but you dont want to spend a few bucks on Poe a rescue squad?

You have fire clubs stepping up and putting ambulances in their buildings so they can do the rescue also. Btw there are now 4 ambulances at the fire clubs and 1 at the rescue club.

Well, I can tell you one thing for sure, you can always count of the hose jockeys and the witch doctors to start a school yard turf war. They must all have some small ****s.

My friends, I think it's important that we bring it back to the concern at hand. A small group of individuals is attempting to place a 2% tax on the entire County of Ashe in order to fund a group that typically does not perform. I myself can't handle a tax increase, simply to throw money down a drain to pay a couple of fellas to sit on their tale in the clubhouse. If any of those commissioners up the hill are willing to waste the hard earned money of the citizens of Ashe Co, it's time for a change. My goodness, we don't even have paid fire.

You got a clue who blocked it or turned it down? If it went before the commissioners I can pull the video and the agenda, any documentation would be attached. This sounds like the work of the fired county manager.

Folks we only pay Sullivan 950,000 a year for 3 units. We paid the landing strip 334,000 for something that benefits a few rich out of county non residents. The ems could be used by each of us, even Yearicks mommy.

Jreedy can you lay your hands on any transport numbers and call numbers? You can pm them to me and I will handle the rest.

Did Sullivan go before the commissioners or just go to the fired county manager and was shot down?

I have been asking around a little since i first seen this post and turns out this is all coming from 2 maybe 3 people who are looking to get a fat paycheck and not have to do anything for it. The current squad captain (Blevins) and the former EMS owner (Poe). Need I say anymore.

most of the county vfd's have rescue equitment for removal from car accident etc water rescue searches rope rescues 4 county ( maybe more) have "rescue " certification light to medium rescue a couple are working toward heavy rescue as i stated earlier 4 have transport capabilites this is not a " we dont need ashe county rescue " type post but just to make people aware that there are options also i think i should mention ashe medic and ashe county rescue are NOT the same agencies ashe medics does do out of town transports and are busy at times then the counties all volunteer back departments handle the calls the ashe medics management have "looked " into placing and ems unit out in the county the call volume was / is more calls around town so the ems unit would be going back to town just basically reversing the "problem " a " study" was done to evaluate another ems unit and the county did not approve it last year i think . basically more ems units be less money for other agencies they require funding . i work for sullivan in watauga and in ashe he is aware and looking for solutions

The ambulance service would have the number of transports to Winston and Charlotte readily available. They will be coming back soon for another contract and hopefully the board will ask lots of questions this time such as their response times to the western and northern parts of the county and the number of calls to these areas of the county.

Tabs I looked at the tape and the agenda. The only thing posted was a contract to operate. It does not specify the level of care. The contract is for 4 1/2 years.

It does appear the Ashe club house is crumbling down hence their reason for wanting money. The jefferson or West Jefferson fire clubs or both should just take over the rescue club.

ED and admitted patient transports should be a statistic monitored by any Hospital, if AMH chooses they may participate in a Federal Quality program which evaluates ED transports, that information is reported quarterly through a Federal Quality reporting website or through a contracted vendor. For Critical Access facilities that reporting is voluntary.

The website Hospital Compare publishes the results of this type of statistical collection for all hospitals who participate, if they have large enough volume for the data to be statistically valid.

Current thought for CAH regulation is to measure the % of patients fully admitted to an inpatient status on an ongoing basis, if this % falls below a particular benchmark the CAH would be subject to revocation fo that status.

Transports to higher level facilities has been along standing problem in Ashe, making the call as to where the patient needs to go is a fine line of determining if Watauga or Wilkes is better able to provide higher level services or if the care of the patient requires tertiary level care found in Winston or Charlotte. Ground transport is the most cost effective and generally appropriate for the patient, Air transport is quite expensive and often not fully covered by the standard health insurance policy.

With the health status of AMH's population it is not unexpected that patients need to be transported to a higher level of care. Primary care facilities are only anticipated to provide 85% of the healthcare needs of a population, I doubt that 15% of the true emergencies seen in the ED are being transported.

Jack, all I know is Pond Mnt. was given the okay to begin running back up and emergency services for Ashe Medics at the last commissioner meeting.

Fins thats the reason I was asking to see if it had only gotten worse. I had heard a couple of years ago the employee retention was due to the constant trips transferring patients to Winston night and day.

Tabs didn't know about Pond mountain getting an ambulance. Do you know at what level they will be operating? I am assuming the basic level. Having an aed would be a very valuable asset if they get or have one.

Jack, didn't we learn at one time that because of the amount of transports they run to Winston, way too often the county is shorted at least one ambulance?

Tabs

Posted 1:54 pm, 01/12/2020

Beginning Jan. 21 Pond Mtn. fire dept. will be allowed to operate an ambulance service.

So are you all telling us that 3 ambulances in the county are not enough? How many transports a month and a year are the volunteers doing?

How many transports a month are going to winston and Charlotte?

Remember I said long ago that piling all 3 of the units in West Jefferson was not best for the whole county. The western and northern parts of the county need a unit.

So Jack's idea would be viable and could be the most sensible.

to answer the question most if not all of the county vfd's have paramedics on their rosters currently 3 vfd's are doing "back up " ems when ashe medics are busy ( ie transporting to amh ) with a least on more vfd in process of transporting when ashe medics busy
