The majority of large delinquents are long time Ashe County residents. The tax dept had an article in the Ashe Mountain Times about delinquent taxes.

Flash previous boards have refused to allow the tax department to do tax foreclosures. I remember this board arguing about doing them and finally relenting and allowing Keith little to start doing them. Looks like they have gotten an attorney besides Kilby to do them. I agree with you that the county should have been doing them long ago. People from out of state die and the property just sits there not to mention all the dead beats not paying. Some of them are more then capable of paying.

Why has the county not file tax foreclosures on many as far back as 1993? Looks like poor business management

Yes it was. A repeal of an amendment (Prohibition) had to be ratified by a a majority of the states voters. ABC Boards were how many states(NC included) got that done. Look it up.

Sassy, the legislature was heavily controlled by the democrat party during the wide period that would have included the election of 1937

The Alcohol Beverage Control Bill was submitted and passed by the NC General Assembly in 1937. Look it up.

Sassy, you better do a lot more digging on the history side. Especially on state issues. I’ll give you a bit of a hint, the NC state Constitution was ratified in 1971.

Prohibition was a Republican Amendment to the Constitution of the US. ABC Boards were the way Democrats got the repeal ratified during the Great Depression. Look it up.

Spotted an old friend of mine owing 29 dollars, however he's listed with his first wife, they divorced in 1996, and he moved out of the county over a decade ago after remarrying. Probably doesn't even know he owes the 29 dollars.
