I had forgotten that. But I do remember that BREMCO also, trying to do damage control, told their employees that a story was coming out and it was really someone trying to cause trouble. They tried to down play the top salaries to their workers.

To call the board election an "election" is the biggest joke I have ever witnessed.

Anyone remember when lightfoot was getting ready to do a story on bremco and douggie had his girl lackey run over and try and get lightfoot not run the story?

Let's not forget that they keep the election process for the board of directors rigged so that only their nominees can win.

For decades, the difference in pay between the Main Honchos and employees was tolerable. Now like much of the corporate world and even educational institutions, it's absurd. It's not a true co-op if we all feel powerless (pun intended). Nobody asked me if the home office should be a McEnergyMansion.

I grit my teeth while reading their seemingly homespun rag (magazine) that appeals to old-time rural NC values and all about your friendly electric co-op that exists solely for the benefits of customers. Typical feel-good marketing tool, and judging by feedback from subscribers, swallowed like a pill. Even the scholarships and other community involvement programs are thinly disguised marketing tools.

They are basically a reseller of electricity through their distribution system, and now want to monopolize anything energy related.

I do NOT want to live and maintain off-grid and for years totally admired and worked in the industry, but that respect has disappeared for upper management in the last twenty years.

Not only when they formed the propane gas company they bought Independence oil and gas company. By doing so they got rid of their only competition and they got an oil business. We used to be called owners of the company anyone notice the switch to calling us customers?

I'm with ya. But you left out something. When they figured out how to open a gas company too, they went from robbing and stealing to raping too. That was the end of the rebate checks that the co-op owners used to get. The CEO and his yes men were finally able to keep profits. The money they make on gas should be redirected to cut electricity costs to members, not to pay a $2.5 million salary.

This is the biggest bunch of crooks that ever hit The country. I will be glad when a whole house solar power unit gets priced reasonably. I'll not pay them another cent. They have ripped people off since they installed the first power meter on a house. Their day is coming when their employee high wages and all those new vehicles will com to an end.

The dog and I brought this up years ago and most didn't care. We told people that BREMCO is being run by a bunch of crooks

From the 2015 Form 990, Part VI, Line 15B "The Compensation Committee of the Board conducts and annual performance review of the CEO and approves the compensation package associated with this position" They must think he is doing one heck of a job.

Any clue where the big increase came from?

Just learned from the IRS form 990 that Blue Ridge Electric's head man Doug Johnson's salary for 2015 was $2,352,494.00, up from $899,550.00 in 2014. Seems a little excessive to me.
