I lived near what is now the Maymead plant (was Brown Brothers back then) for a few years and never had problems with the plant. Most environmental types overstate the impact of modern facilities.

I love the smell of hot mix

Another thing is people always talking all about the harmful fumes you would be breathing . If that was true wouldn't it be hard to keep help on the paving crews ! You never hear about the paving guys falling over dead paving and they breath it all the time .

Fins, I never thought of it like that but you are spot on .

I live less than 1/4 mile from one and have for a few years and hasn't bothered me yet . In order to have paved roads you must have an asphalt plant . It's how life works . I can't believe people are still wanting more of our tax dollars blown on this

No Pork Chop, you aren’t agreeing with me. You clearly don’t even understand the point I made. Like Joe, I don’t care where it goes. Unlike you, I understand the need

I use to live just down the road from the Maymead plant and Vulcan rock quarry on 105 just outside of Boone and it never bother me one time.

Let’s put it in one of your backyards- you seem to think it isn’t so bad

Yes it is a bad place do to access but that is the only kinds of places you and put stuff like that do to all the NIMBY's.

I do agree with FINS that its a bad location for truck access, and yeah looks like we'll be wasting yet more money. Hopefully the NC Supreme Court refuses to take up the case and just allows the lower court ruling to remain so as to save the taxpayers some money.

There goes some more money in attorney fees up in smoke.

I heard the District Superior Court Judge ruled in favor of the asphalt plant and now the County is preparing to appeal to the NC Supreme Court.

I've always believed the county would lose the asphalt case. It's clear the county delayed issuing a permit when it should have and then dragged it's feet until passing more restrictions.

My opinion is I don’t see why anyone would want to put it there. The access sucks for trucks
