The secret to fitting in when you move to a location new to you is to embrace what your new location has, don't try to make your new location the same as where you came from.
Get out and become involved in the institutions and traditions that make your new home special.
If you are from the city and moved to the country, don't complain about the sounds and smells farm animals make, don't complain about how natives and other long term residents make their living and spend their money. Ask equations and learn why they live the way they do.

****, I grew up here and just because I can construct a grammatically correct sentence without spelling errors, I am regarded with great suspicion and disbelief.
Oh and if you've ever held a decent job or traveled outside of the "high country", better not mention that either. It's like the people who think the moon landing was fake or that the earth is flat in here.

Using big words incorrectly is the opposite of being grammatically correct.
I moved here from somewhere else. I've traveled.
