No Billy, Hedge wasn't allowed to run. The state constitution was amended to prevent felons from running for sheriff. Interesting thing though, revoking the rights of convicted felons who have served their terms is a relatively new concept that came out of the Jim Crowe laws.

JR, he just was released earlier this year from Central Prison for drug charges. He had been there for at least 10 years.

Not sure.

The journal patriot uses the "Mr. Horton" which it later drops. Mr Horton in that case may not even be the persons real name. I do question given Mr. Holloway's own rap sheet why he was hired as a correctional officer in the first place.....

I was actually surprised Michael wasn't in jail already I thought he was. He's been in trouble pretty much since we were all in school. I don't remember a time when he wasn't in trouble for something. Sad really that he couldn't turn his life around.

I may be incorrect, but wasn't every conservative's favorite sheriff, and convicted felon, Gerald Hege allowed to run for sheriff recently? I'd rather have a felon working corrections as opposed to being the top law enforcement official in the county.

So what makes you think they are connected? Because they both have someone with the last name Horton?

Seems to me the real question is why is a felon being hired in a prison. That seems about as smart as hiring a bunch from AA to work the liquor store

So I guess being a convicted felon doesn't disqualify you from getting hired as a prison guard in NC.

Of course they are tied together. Horton just got out of prison for drug charges. The best bet is to just hold him for life. As bad as it sounds he has spent basically his whole adult life in prison. I'm sure he was ratted on and in turn he decided to do the same.
