There should be nothing but dirt wagon roads west of Warrensville.
That would sure make getting us home care nurses back to those folk more difficult.
My Mom and many others did it for years while working at the health dept. when most of those roads were dirt or gravel its not that big a deal

Why should urban/suburban people subsidize the cost of living for rural people?

Scary Creston is over there past Warrensville.

Lurker again speaks truth to power. What lies west/NW of Warrensville? Creston (lol) and Johnson County, easily inhabited by real life incestual mutations. Wanna talk about the aliens in Damascus? We literally lie on the fringe of cosmopolitan civilization.

Alleghany and Ashe are examples of how the government has turned a blind eye to the parkway.

There has not been any massive sale of property owned by the US Government or the park service. What has happened is that due to lack of budget support for operations and maintenance the Park service has been "forced" to seek "donations" from the likes of Coke and Budweiser to infuse capital into the NPS operating budget. The "donations" are really the purchase of marketing co-branding rights for the manufacturer, so you get, The Statue of Liberty, proudly brought to you by Budweiser. Sort of the typical governmental expenditure of funds, spend billions to acquire and build infrastructure to preserve an area of scenic or cultural significance, or build a Court House of government building and then never fully fund the maintenance budget, or even discuss the cost of operations when "selling" the program to the tax paying public.

Lurker speaks truth to power. Same goes for the schools.

And I guess you want dirt roads and wagons also?

I have no problem with the county running the parks. But, use this opportunity to cut the expensive parks and rec budget and put the PE teachers in charge of the sports programs. Let them finally earn their paychecks.

There should be no public parks.

If you can't pay you can't use - period.

We’d better off without parks.

I wouldn't call Ashe park a traditional park like the city parks. Out of the cities organizations run the parks while counties maintain ownership. Thats what needs to happen with Ashe park and there would be no money from the county. Family central seems to be offices for the county and the state while a little of the space is used for health related.

You might be able to find a private company to manage the park, the County would still have to subsidize the operations. The operation of a Park System is not mandatory, it is common practice across most of the state of NC. https://www.sog.unc....nc-pdf.pdf

I think the park is okay, it's used by many people but would never make it as a private enterprise.

The airport should be privatized, it's used by a very small minority, there is no need for the majority to fund the rich man's hobby. No it wouldn't survive privatization in this county but I really see no need for an airport.
