Come on, don’t run away now. You said sports are vital to life, then tell us just how they are vital

Where did your little boy play in college? Stop deflecting.

I guess you left me out and it cuts me, cuts me deep. However I will make up for your short comings. Someone had to work, drive the buses, and I had to drink liquor and keep the hot teenage girls satisfied. That was my contribution to sports and I loved it and still do.

High School lives of a few popular trolls on this site:

billythemountain: weighed 105 his senior year, wanted to play football but would have gotten killed by the worst kid on the team. Got cut from band because he couldn't blow hard enough but the band teacher said he played a mean skin flute. Now he spends his days living in his grandmas basement watching p**n and commenting on every post on goashe.com

aFicloNadoS: wore black everyday, never cut his hair, had a pocket chain attached to his empty wallet. As he got older wanted to wrestle because the thoughts of having sweaty boys rolling all over him made him hard as a rock but as long as a peanut. He got bullied his Jr year by a freshman and was homeschooled his senior year. Nowadays he fights depression, has an opioid addiction and still tries to stay in touch with the band teacher because he enjoyed the private lessons.

You guys are pathetic....the only people who care about your opinions or what you have to say is yourselves. If the truth be known your probably the same person because you are the only ones on most topics who agree. Why don't you get a job, and spend as much time working as you do on here talking trash from mamaw's basement.

Just because you weren't athletic enough to play, got cut or were to scared to even tryout don't knock the ones who do, who can and the ones who excel in something you couldn't.

Or that the school is giving athletes a bump on grades to keep them playing.

WCC used to have sports program. I'm still trying to figure out why it is the school's responsibility to tend to children after school. If a kids grades are dropping when they aren't playing sports, that sounds more like a home problem.

Oh yeah, they do. I forgot about that. I’ve never understood it really.

No, but I think Caldwell does.

My son played sports throughout elementary, middle and high school and was fortunate enough to get to play in college. He ALWAYS performed better in the classroom when he was "in-season". Looking back on it now it was probably more of a structure and schedule thing but his grades didn't lie. When he was "out of season" his grades fell off a little because he had more time on his hands to do other things and procrastinate on his homework. He has done very good in college managing his time and his grades and is on track to graduate a year early.....so, athletics aren't all bad nor are they a waste of money. I believe they are a vital part of our society and have a place in all of our school programs.

I will say it again, if you think sports are so important then stop restricting it to a small few and offer it to all. Make it part of the requirements for graduation. The statistics have zero to do with School sponsored sports, they have to do with kids being active, developing leadership skills. We don't have to offer over hyped spectacles for parents to relive their failed attempts at being the next great sports stars.

I think we clutter the lives of kids today with to many activities.

I think if we really wanted to improve their well being we'd increased and restore PE at the very least through middle schools. Texas was doing this in some districts recently and found that they could get kids off the meds, that the extra PE helped settle the kids down and make them more attentive in the classroom.

I'm not against sports per say. In fact I think it's good for many to participate, I never did beyond being on the B team for baseball at Nathan's Creek, my brother played some sports, my cousins did, just never interested me.

You’ll do go to remember that

Finny, you win because you are never wrong. Sports suck.

Unlike you, I have done the research. There are no exclusive benefits from sports. But there are plenty of negatives that are well documented and proven.

Again, that is just your opinion. If you actually did your research, you would find numerous studies on both sides. These ten points are valid and back up several studies. Do your homework.

Queenie, I had fact based research articles. Not op-Ed’s. It doesn’t have any points because it is only opinion. There is no study to actually back it up.
