Hank go back and re-read your history again. General Forrest was not the founder of the KKK, he joined the organization 2 years after its founding and served as the first Grand Wizard of the Klan.

Why not leave the statues where they are but change the carving on the bases to state the truth for instance: . Nathan Bedford Forrest Confederate General Slave Trader and Founder of the Ku Klux Klan. Right there you have an incentive for history students to research for a more comprehensive history of whoever the statue represents.
