We used to go over to Carson Woods.
There's actually an off-road park over in Valle Crucis now. It's across from the Mast Store. I'm sure those Floridians love it.

Yes Richlands/Penley Road down in the Samson community in Watauga is a good place to go. It goes from Samson rd across the mountain to Hwy 321 it is called Penley RD on the Samson side now. However I don't suggest you go alone since it is easy to get lost and end up on private property if you don't know where you are going not to mention its not a good place to be alone if you don't know the people around. It is a nice ride through the woods with some creek crossings and lite rock crawling and very very hard hill climes that few 4 wheel drives can make it up. It use to be a very popular for Horse's, 4 wheel drives, dirt bikes and 4 wheeler's.

I don't think there are any trails nearby that are open to the public. I go to the 4wd beach at the OBX. I've heard a lot of good things about the craft beer at Boondocks. The food is good but I can't personally vouch for the beer. I don't drink it. Not sure about the best place to ski.. I've never done it.

Looks like there is a quilt meeting, a GOP meeting, and a blood drive coming up. If you are a redneck you might enjoy hanging out at Walmart in the back area of the parking lot in the evenings. If you were into Mister Rogers as a kid you could go to the Parkway Theater and watch A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood but make sure you take cash (they dont take cards) and are prepared to be annoyed the whole time by a bunch of unsupervised brats. Like Billy said.. it just depends on what your definition of fun is.

Every weekend there is a "fun" party at Jacks house and several holidays in the summer months we have river bashes. You can be my special guest.

Depends on what your definition of "fun" is. If you're an evangelical Christian you're gonna love all this county has to offer. Just hang out at a church and they'll show you the way to the nearest Bible study, bake sale and hate group. If you're into "sinning," it's slim pickings.
