First off Sharpe, Anytime that you claim "Good men" and God are on the same level, then you need to read your bible again.

No twisting at all. I believe in a God that knows the motive of the prayers are to "appear righteous." They are not sent from God but are men trying to honor themselves instead of God. You want a true prayer, you will see a man begging Gods forgiveness for his own sins and proclaiming that his will will be done. Timothy was instructed to pray, not lead prayer, not have someone else lead prayer, but to pray. When God places on someones heart to pray, it does not matter if its silent or shouted from the roof tops, it could be in a room full of people, or you could be alone.

The fact is that Jesus was talking about this very thing. He was instructing others to not be like those that want to be seen, but to pray in your own manner, from your heart not recite a public prayer over and over with no meaning to it.

Oh Heel, what teachings you misconstrue.
Human life once conceived, is never all or nothing at the spiritual level. Or the practical level. You can never give all or withdraw all of anything. Its all transformation all the time. We have free will and an ability to stave off chaos with decisions, and pray for a good result, if your a practicing christian that is. Bad people will of course try to get in the way but God and good men can deal with that too. And we do.
Everybody praying at the court house is a bad idea, chaos would be the inevitable result, so we don't do it.
You're welcome to your bad ideas but please don't do it on my dime and not expect some serious pushback.

I take that very literal because that is the word of Jesus. He is saying that a prayer should be something personal that does not have to be shouted for everyone to see. That is very simple not out of context. If everyone wants to pray for a commissioners meeting, by all means pray but we do not need to see a public display to make the prayer more powerful.

In Timothy it is instructing that we pray, it say nothing about public prayer. Talking about taking things out of context, you did that very thing.

Well Paula Perry ended the prayer with "IN OUR SAVIORS NAME" and nobody seemed upset! Note Buchanan wasn't there at the meeting, big D Nelson wants his request for records met, because he's no different than the big Charlotte lawyers. And finally G Roark just had to interrupt the commissioners meeting to ask tax man Lambert about the wiring on some computer IT work? Someone please tell Roark to take care of maintenance on his time not the BOC time!

1 Timothy 2.8 'I desire therefore that men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting'.

Why why, why take a verse out of context
If you apply it universally then we shouldn't pray in church, at revivals, at family gstherings
Prayer is also something to be shared

If a Muslim wanted the courthouse to sound the call to prayer everyday and came to pray for the county government would you be OK with that? Because you either include all our exclude all there is no in between.

And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
