They are usually more explanatory because they are usually more focused on a specific case. Be it something like an asphalt plant, a sales tax, or new school. But they can't really say this is about the sheriff, because for one, the commissioners can't change anything now.
I also suspect that one commissioner may be trying to load the forum with planted pro Buchanan puppets. Basically, it's a dog and pony show, nothing more.

Jack, it came from the County Clerk, Ann Clark. We regularly get these announcements (they're just general press releases) so that we can post them in the Local Events calendar. But they're usually a lot more explanatory, so this one seemed... interesting.

Who did the notice come from in the county?
I dont know where or how they see this is going to help them. It can only go badly for them if taxpayers stand up and tell them how they really feel.

It's mostly about trying to look like they are doing something. People are pissed over their appointment of sheriff and how they have handled things. Now that he is under an SBI investigation, they are trying to figure out how to fix their own screw ups and appease people. That's why the description is so vague.

I received this notice from the county today:
The Ashe County Board of Commissioners will hold a Public Forum on Monday, September 25, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. in the commissioners’ meeting room (small courtroom) at the Ashe County Courthouse. The purpose of the Public Forum is to allow members of the public the opportunity to make statements to the Board on items of interest in Ashe County. I'm going to post it in the Local Events calendar, but this seems like an unusually vague description of the forum. If you guys know what it's actually about, I would like to post a better description in the Calendar.
