Shatley Paving Sucks

A. The people of Ashe don’t actually know squat about paving. And if it was one of those stupid public vote popularity contests, I’ve noticed the winners are always the companies that also buy a whole table st the awards banquet.

B. You can copy and paste all you want from the web, but it won’t change how useless the BBB is.

Fins do please try and keep up.

Did jack let you out of the lot this evening?

who awarded them paving company of the year?
Well that would be the great people of Ashe county. They must be doing something right.

2nd. the BBB The Better Business Bureau (BBB), founded in 1912, is an organization focused on advancing marketplace trust consisting of 106 independently incorporated local BBB organizations in the United States and Canada Nearly 400,000 local businesses in North America support the BBB

The Better Business Bureau is not affiliated with any governmental agency. Businesses that affiliate with the BBB and adhere to its standards do so through industry self-regulation. To avoid bias, the BBB's policy is to refrain from recommending or endorsing any specific business, product or service

This says a lot compared to ya'lls lies and B******!

If anyone knows anything about the BBB they know that their ratings are really meaningless. They are only based on the feedback they get from a business’s customers. They don’t go out and survey customers either. So only if someone contacts the BBB and files a complaint do they put it on a report. And no one contacts the BBB anymore.

Second, who awarded them paving company of the year? Most of those awards are jokes.

First of all jack, I have never stated one time that I work for Shatley ....you're running on your blown up ego on the assumption that I work for Shatley.

I just stated the facts of what Shatley did about the milled joints...that Shatley was ask to put in paper joints FOR Vannoy/Maymead . Delta is the company that was contracted do the milling, NOT Shatley.

Shatley was not even on the project the day of the milling.

Ya'll come on here running off at the mouth saying things that just isn't true. As of matter of fact Most of what has been posted on this thread is not true.

jack rip her
I copied earlier that Shatley was to pave the transitions of the milled joints.

I never started that Shatley was to pave the transitions. I stated that Shatley put in the paper joints to make the
transition a little smoother.

pointman, one of your locals on here stated that you were a upstanding educated professional and I find this very hard to beleive .

Most educated professional would not get on a form such as GA and run their mouth about Company that they know nothing about.

So, stop all the *****ing and crying because Maymead is paving on 221 and when its all said and done 221 will be a new roadway.
Stop spreading lies about Company's , unless you know the facts....its pretty clear that Most on GA have NO facts to back up the lies they are telling.

Jim and Trevor cant seem to grasp that their flunky has already stated in the post I copied earlier that Shatley was to pave the transitions of the milled joints. Shatley failed to do this thus the complaints about their shoddy work. Obviously they can get away with shoddy work for the dot and not the towns or public.

I can verify that Shatley didn’t pave the aforementioned ramp at the end of the day.

FACTS:

1- DELTA was contracted by Maymead to mill the butt joints (NOT Shatley)

2- Shatley does NOT even own/lease a milling machine

3- Shatley Paving was awarded THE PAVING COMPANY OF THE YEAR FOR 2017-2018

4- Shatley Paving has earned an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau

Note: all of the above can be easily verified by anyone interested in the truth

Also Butt Joints are used at the end of a paving run, end of the day's pavement run or pavement tie-in locations. At locations where traffic is to pass over these Butt Joints, then a sloped asphalt wedge is to be placed. You can read more here if you want to learn what is required, pages 250-253.

Well, after all of these posts nothing has been resolved or done about the situation except more words flung around. To get something done, send a message to NCDOT via the link that I posted earlier. I have used the link and it works because my issue got fixed. Otherwise, more words on this subject amounts to nothing more than being part of the problem.

Can asphalt paving be done in the rain?

Asphalt paving cannot be completed while it is raining. Paving must also be delayed if it has rained recently enough for the ground to still be wet.

While paving companies would like to be able to complete jobs during any weather conditions, asphalt is made of a mixture that contains oils. These oils repel water, and laying asphalt while it is actively raining will cause unintended results that affect the quality of the project.

The repelling of oil from water means that cracks or holes may form in asphalt that is laid during rainy weather. These cracks can quickly turn into potholes, and it is even possible for potholes to form when asphalt is laid on wet ground after it has stopped raining.

The damage and quality concerns related to laying asphalt in wet conditions can be observed immediately. The oil that separates from the asphalt as it repels water will rise to the top of the newly surfaced road or parking lot. Craters may form if it is raining immediately after the asphalt has been laid.

Alpha Paving Industries is dedicated to providing clients with high-quality paving results that are free of the damage that can be caused due to wet weather.

So Trevor, what you are bragging about is that someone else is worse at paving than Shatley. Good for you, you play your strengths.

As for Maymead, of course they are paving today. It’s raining.

Hi Trevor, I actually did a little research and found some really great articles about Shatley.

I know that Shatley has done great work for my husband and myself.

Here is the first one..

Board members also voted between two contractors who submitted bids to repave the West Jefferson Cemetery roads and connector road. Shatley Paving bid $36,502.00, while Tri-County Paving bid $29,820.90 for the same project. The board voted to accept Shatley Paving’s bid, despite the higher cost, due to the company’s prior history working with the town.

Here is yet another....
West Jefferson Town Aldermen have approved the resurfacing of 12 downtown streets by Shatley Paving.

• 3rd Avenue to Second Street/ East 1st Street • 3rd Avenue to First Street/Main Street. This will also include the removal of sidewalk on N Third Avenue. • High Drive • An overlay on E 4th Street. • Sunset off E 5th Street • W 4th Street and St. Paddy/Church Street • Oak Street off of Spring Drive • College Street to W 2nd Street to 4th Street • Ridgecrest " from Long Street to 407 residence • The curve at Wilton Avenue to College Street • W 7th Street to Reeves Well Entrance

Town Manager Brantley Price said the decision of which roads to pave came after close examination by him and town maintenance workers of needed repairs in the downtown.

The total amount of roadway to be paved is estimated at 88,885 total feet.

Although the town has a total of $72,500 budgeted for paving in the 2012-13 fiscal year budget, town officials voted to appropriate an additional $46,000 from the town's fund balance to foot the bill of the project.

I also see where you guys were given The Paving Company Of The Year Award for 2017-2018.

And you guys have a A plus rating with the BBB..

It seems that people that have had work done by you guys love it and want more.
Keep up the good work Shatley.

And thanks for all the hard word and very long hours that ya'll are having to put in for these sorry pieces of S*** that just sit or their *** all day and ***** and cry like a bunch of two year olds.

No Maymead is Paving today because they have the contract for the whole road and they like our work enough that they sub some out to us. Is this all that you all have to do? Instead of doing your jobs you would rather sit around and complain about other people’s work?
