Williams was sheriff at the time of the shooting. Buchanan was sheriff at the time the lawsuit was filed

I think it is actually two, Williams who hired and trained Hoppy, Buchanan who was the Sheriff at the time of the event. Hartley appeared to represent the department at the hearing.

So three sheriffs are being sued in this suit?

Could be they kept him from hurting someone else. Second guessing doesn't do any good

I feel sorry for the person who called to request the welfare check, probably not the outcome they were hoping for.

I doubt there will be a lawsuit. The other shootings were not standoffs lasting for hours. He actually fired the first shots.

Maybe "he" was called but was tied up with a drunk or he was drunk. It would have been an excellent time to rob something.

Why did the hospital get left out?

They will all be applying for federal grants not for participating in a multi agency operation.
