Stumb, The County Manager Set in Stone?

Inthemtns

He was hand picked and appointed almost like Buchanan. Good or bad? Who really knows... It doesn't seem that the job was offered to anyone from the County.

You apparently are turning out to be rather blond. Since you only know Yearicks mommy distantly you have no idea what she is. She may be a bible banger by Sunday morning and a drunk the rest of the week. I would if he was my son.

Ashe chicky, above is exactly what I said. Let me repeat that I have sources that say she is very ashamed of the actions of her son in a county she and the rest of us have to live. He never moved to Ashe county the entire time he was manager and giving favors to Elmer Fudd aka Roark. Any county employee will tell you that they are glad he is finally gone as he was a tyrant of a boss.

I see reading isn't your strong suit. Jack said she may be. It was a theoretical point to help explain that if you only know someone from a distance, you don't really know them.

Paraphrasing here but "bible banging on Sunday and drunk all week - wtf knows". That'd be from jack. And also since I described knowing her distantly, he thought I knew absolutely nothing about the woman - which I actually do. So, no hard feelings but I would call that talking **** about Mama.

No one said anything bad about his mother

jack - I am actually "blonde" but I'm no .

I went to school with Sam's younger brother John, who passed away not too long ago. He was severely handicapped by a motor bike accident he had in 8th grade. John was wheelchair bound, blind and the brain injury he sustained left him forever in 8th grade. He needed a lot of care throughout his life. His mother kept him at home and did all of that care herself - not easy. I admire her for her selfless devotion to her son. I don't know Sam nor do I know what he did to get himself fired but his mother is a good woman...just sayin'.

Hiring a manager from within is often a mistake. It can create issues of favoritism and resentment. Also, it can be hard to take someone and put them over people they were previously equal to or less than. Some positions are well served by bringing someone objective in. It's impossible to claim nepotism if a manager has no connections to potential hires.

I met Adam Stumb when he first came to Ashe as a Planner. I have never him fail to do a professional job and carry out his duties in a respectful " common sense" way. I have known and worked with a dozen past county managers. Adam has started the job in the middle of a commissioner created a mess with help from the last manager. Adam has handled the job professionally and I feel sure he will continue now he is officially the Ashe County Manager. Congratulations Adam

If you ask Adam a question, and he is not sure of the answer, that is what he tells you. He will take your phone #, and promise to call you back with an answer. And that is exactly what he does. His predecessor, always had an answer. Often wrong. He would never admit to not knowing anything. And return a phone call?. Never.

Adam Stumb was given the job and I haven't heard any government employees say anything negative about him.

This thread was just started by someone who has been eating sour grapes.

And how much does this job pay? Maybe I will apply...I would be good at it but at this point in my life I don't have to work and would only do so if there was decent money involved or if I was feeling generous with my many gifts (intelligence, experience, education, local knowledge, etc).
Btw, lay off Yearick's mom - I distantly know her and she is a sweetheart.

That makes the most sense here. DSS Director is basically the manager of the most conservative county in N.C., which is (not) headscratching.

I have noticed that other counties are hiring from within. There can be several reasons for this, they get an employee familer with how things work, less money for salary, loosely negotiated if at all contract.

Stumb is only guilty of being well spoken, coming off as intelligent, having a quality education, and being from Watauga County. I'm sure that intimates the straight trees at Government Circle. My only question is, did they ever advertise the job opening or did they not have to because it technically was never open? I'm certain there are more qualified folks out there, but I doubt they're in county.

She was disowning him last I heard. He turned out to be such a disappointment.

Is Sam's mother posting in this thread?

Do you really want this

Posted 6:41 am, 12/18/2019

Let's not forget that Judy Porter Poe was collaborating with Jordan to put him in as county manager in the not so distant past and then he lied about it when pressed. I certainly don't want anyone in office that has any ties to that witch or who is prone to lying to the public.

Ken sure makes a lot of noise when all he has to show for his efforts is a weather man elected by a gang of liberal students that are not citizens of our district.

I will be speaking with Jordan about the pouring of millions down that airport hole. I will go ahead and predict that he takes Perry off the board.

Why? Are you trying to figure out how many years Yearick poured millions of dollars down the airport hole?
